Story
** Note: Seobyul is currently in a foster home in Surrey, BC. For more info about him, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/seobyul/ ----------------------------------- Background Seobyul was rescued along with four other dogs from a heartbreaking situation. They had been abandoned inside a construction container and left there for over a month. The owner promised to return one day but never did. Eventually, a concerned neighbor reached out for help. The conditions were extremely poor. There was no clean water, the smell inside the container was overwhelming, and their fur was badly tangled and matted. One of the dogs had a broken leg and was suffering. Despite everything he endured, Seobyul never lost his gentle and loving spirit. Seobyul is currently in a foster home in Surrey, BC. Personality and Socialization Seobyul is a joyful and affectionate Poodle who loves people. With high energy level, he is friendly, playful, and full of life. He enjoys being close to his person and often follows them from room to room like a little shadow. Cuddles, gentle pets, and attention are his favorite things. He is very welcoming to new people and does well meeting strangers. Seobyul also gets along nicely with other dogs, especially dogs around his age who enjoy playtime. He would be happy living with another friendly, playful dog or as a devoted companion to his human. Behaviour Seobbyul is smart and learns quickly. He does well in the car and remains calm during baths, grooming, and vet visits. He is comfortable using indoor pee pads and also goes potty outdoors. He walks nicely on leash and stays close to his person. Seobbyul does not enjoy being left alone and does not do well with crates. He thrives when he can stay close to his people and be included in daily life. He is happiest when he knows he is not alone. Health and Diet When Seobbyul was rescued, he was diagnosed with babesiosis from tick bites. He has since completed his treatment and is now healthy and ready for his forever home. Seobbyul has received a full veterinary checkup and is healthy and happy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and on monthly parasite prevention. He has no known allergies and eats well twice a day. Ideal Home Seobbyul is a classic people loving Poodle who wants to be part of everything his human does. An ideal home would be with someone who understands the Poodle breed and their strong need for companionship. Someone who works from home or is retired and can spend most of their time with their dog would be ideal, as he does not like being left alone. A quiet detached house would be best, as he may bark when left by himself. Seobbyul is deeply devoted to his people and wants nothing more than to love and be loved in return. He is a special boy who has already endured so much. He is ready to leave his past behind and give his whole heart to the family who chooses him. ----------------------------- For more info about him, please follow the link below. https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/seobyul/

Story
Cotton Age: 3 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Maltese Terrier mix Color: White / Beige Weight: 8 kg (17.6 lbs) Height: 36 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Cotton was rescued from an extreme animal hoarding situation where over 230 dogs were being kept in poor conditions. Despite her past, Cotton is a gentle and affectionate little girl who still loves people and seeks comfort from humans. Special Note: Congenital Deafness (born deaf)     ‍ Human Social Skills Cotton is very friendly and affectionate. She approaches both familiar people and strangers, enjoys rubbing against them, and allows easy handling. She can be comfortably picked up and will even show her belly once she bonds with you.   She is good with children under 13, but because she is deaf, she may get startled by sudden movements or unexpected touches.   Dog Social Skills Cotton will greet unfamiliar dogs but doesn’t really play with them. She generally prefers dogs similar to her size and feels overwhelmed by high-energy dogs.   Although she’s not very interested in other dogs, she has lived with many dogs before and may feel anxious if she is the only dog in the home.   Cats Cotton has passed her cat test and is currently being fostered in a home with cats. She usually ignores them, but sometimes at night, if she suddenly sees a cat’s shadow, she may get scared and bark.   Energy Level Low energy. Cotton loves to rest and sleep most of the day. Because she is deaf, once she falls asleep, she tends to sleep very deeply and for long periods.   Walks Cotton doesn’t have much walking experience yet, so she’s still learning. She generally follows her handler well, but if she feels scared, she may pull on the leash to move away from what’s frightening.   Other Behaviors & Notes • No resource guarding with people or dogs. • Very quiet at the center, but after moving to foster, she showed separation anxiety and howled for about 3 days. • After training, she can now stay alone (with another dog present) for over 3 hours calmly. • She sleeps in the same space as people but not right next to them. • Still struggling with crate training — she becomes anxious and barks when she can’t see people. • No car sickness, but she is scared of getting into the car and needs to be carried in. • Currently uses both pee pads indoors and outdoor potty.   Ideal Home Cotton would do best in a calm, patient home that understands deaf dogs and can communicate using visual cues and consistency. A home with another gentle dog may help her feel more secure.   She is a sweet, quiet soul who just needs time, stability, and love to truly blossom Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram! Story
Echo Age: 2 years Sex: Neutered male Breed: Maltese/Terrier mix Color: White Weight: 9.1 kg (20 lbs) Height: 38 cm (15 in)   Echo is deaf (he cannot hear). He relies on visual cues and human guidance, and stays very attentive to his person.   Rescue Story: Echo was rescued from an animal hoarding situation where over 230 dogs were being kept.   Human Socialization   Echo is a very affectionate and friendly boy. He approaches both familiar people and strangers, rubs against them, and enjoys being petted. He likes both men and women and does well with children under 13 (he simply shows little interest). He is comfortable being picked up, and once he bonds with you, he loves showing his belly for rubs   Dog Socialization   Echo is friendly with both familiar and unfamiliar dogs and happily goes up to greet them. He doesn’t quite know how to “play properly” yet and mostly just runs around excitedly. He is not afraid of larger dogs, though he usually prefers dogs of similar size. If another dog provokes him, he tends to avoid conflict and gets along well without issues. After playtime, he usually likes to rest in his own quiet space.   Cats   His reaction to cats has not been observed yet, but a cat test can be arranged.   Energy Level   Low energy. Echo is a calm dog who enjoys relaxing and resting most of the time   Walks   Echo only recently started going on walks, so he is still learning to explore and sniff around. However, he walks nicely without pulling and follows his human well. Since he is deaf, he relies heavily on visual cues and tends to stay close and attentive to his handler.   Other Behaviors   Echo does not resource guard food with either people or dogs and is not particularly food-motivated.   Because he was born and raised among many dogs, he has some baseline separation anxiety. When first placed in a new environment—especially since he is deaf—he may feel anxious if he cannot see his person. In the past, he showed behaviors like scratching walls, the floor, or tearing pee pads.   However, once he adjusts, he becomes very relaxed, sleeps well, and can stay alone comfortably. He rarely barks and is currently doing both indoor pee pad training and outdoor potty.   Foster History   • First foster home: About 2 weeks. No howling when left alone, but scratched at closed doors. • Second foster home: About 1.5 months. Did well staying alone. • Current: Staying at the AKR Center.   Echo is a gentle, quiet, and loving soul. He may need a little patience during the initial adjustment period, but once he feels safe, he becomes an incredibly easy and calm companion who just wants to stay close to his person.
