Story
Meet Abbey! If you're looking for a calm and loving companion, Abbey is your girl! She's happiest when she can snooze by your side, keeping you company with her gentle presence. Abbey is the perfect match for someone who appreciates a laid-back, easygoing dog who simply wants to be near her people. She will let out little barks when she wants attention or when she needs to go potty. Though she would prefer to hangout inside, t his sweet pup walks wonderfully with her harness and is in no hurry- her strolls are more about enjoying the moment than racing ahead. She's loyal, mellow, and ready to find her forever home where she can nap and share endless companionship. Could that be with you?  Age: 12 years old Breed: Maltese Weight: 15 lbs, ideally her goal weight is about 12 lbs to aid in her health, joints and mobility Kid-friendly: Hasn't been around them much, has never been aggressive towards them Dogs: Yes Cats: Yes, mostly ignores Crate trained: No Potty trained: Yes, will bark or go to the door Health concerns: Back hip was out of place prior to coming to rescue, seems ok now, needs to remain on arthritis medication. Arthritis and allergies/skin allergies, takes medications. Mass under her chest. May have stress colitis when introduced to new environments. Current medications & estimated costs: Hydroxyzine for allergies, Apoquel for allergies, and Rimadyl for pain/arthritis. About $95/month Adoption fee: $375 As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us. Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.)  Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine.  $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.   Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience.  We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation.  Once you submit your application, our adoption manager will be in touch, so please check your spam folder if you do not see something from us within 7-10 days.  Thank you again for your interest in a Grey Face senior. We appreciate your support!   October 20, 2025, 4:22 pm

Story
Meet Ghost! He has been described as clingy, protective, and spoiled. He can be nervous around new people and may need extra time and space to adjust in his new home. Ghost is crate trained and is used to being kenneled during work hours. He knows "no," "stop," "down," "go" and "go potty." Ghost is mostly housetrained but will have an occasional accident. Keeping him on a consistent schedule will help him reach success! Ghost has lived with children in his previous home and has been friendly with some and avoidant of others. He would do best in a home without children, or at least older kids who can understand his boundaries. Ghost has not lived with other dogs but seems nervous when they are near him. All introductions should be slow and proper when bringing home new animals. Ask staff for tips! He loves car rides, going on walks, being outside, and playing with squeaky toys! Ghost is used to being groomed regularly and does great! He has displayed some resource guarding tendencies with food and toys; it's important that his adopter sets him up for success by learning his boundaries and preventing opportunities for him to guard. For example, feeding him in his kennel or crate will give him the sense of safety without interruption. Teaching him a "leave-it" or "drop-it" command with toys will help avoid situations where his person is attempting to take anything out of his mouth. Come meet Ghost today! *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling (320) 252-0896. An adoption hold reserves available animals for one day after the animal is ready to be adopted. More than one adoption hold may be placed on an available animal and will be honored in the order they were received. Adoption holds are $25 plus tax, are non-refundable, non-transferable and not applied toward the adoption fee. **Minnesota sales tax and an administrative fee ($20 for cats/dogs and $10 for small animals) will be applied to all adoptions. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures, and general care of all shelter animals.
