Meet Abbey! If you're looking for a calm and loving companion, Abbey is your girl! She's happiest when she can snooze by your side, keeping you company with her gentle presence. Abbey is the perfect match for someone who appreciates a laid-back, easygoing dog who simply wants to be near her people. She will let out little barks when she wants attention or when she needs to go potty. Though she would prefer to hangout inside, t his sweet pup walks wonderfully with her harness and is in no hurry- her strolls are more about enjoying the moment than racing ahead. She's loyal, mellow, and ready to find her forever home where she can nap and share endless companionship. Could that be with you?  Age: 12 years old Breed: Maltese Weight: 15 lbs, ideally her goal weight is about 12 lbs to aid in her health, joints and mobility Kid-friendly: Hasn't been around them much, has never been aggressive towards them Dogs: Yes Cats: Yes, mostly ignores Crate trained: No Potty trained: Yes, will bark or go to the door Health concerns: Back hip was out of place prior to coming to rescue, seems ok now, needs to remain on arthritis medication. About $95/month Adoption fee: $375 As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us. Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.)  Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine.  $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.   Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience.  We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation.  Once you submit your application, our adoption manager will be in touch, so please check your spam folder if you do not see something from us within 7-10 days.  Thank you again for your interest in a Grey Face senior. I just joined my foster family and we are still getting acquainted with one another. Once they learn more about me, they will add more information here! *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* ---- Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your Senior dog in top shape.

Story
Meet Gordo! A 4 year old Maltese and Poodle mix pup. This sweet little guy is friendly with people of all ages and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He enjoys meeting new friends and is happiest when he has company, whether it is human or canine. Gordo loves the simple joys in life. He enjoys a good walk and spending time outside exploring the world. He also enjoys playtime with toys, romping around with other dogs, and going along for car rides. If treats are involved, he is extra motivated and enjoys learning new things, which makes training a fun experience for both him and his people. He is still perfecting his potty training, so he will do best with a patient family who can help him stay on a good routine. Gordo is also a bit of an escape artist and will happily dash out an open door if given the chance, so a watchful home that keeps doors secure will help keep this curious little explorer safe. Gordo is a lovable, playful companion who is ready to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of outdoor adventures to his new home. With a little guidance and a lot of love, this sweet boy will make a wonderful addition to a lucky family. Gordo is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/21/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about this program. ---- This pet is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease and is available through our Foster-to-Adopt (FTA) program.
