Story
OMAR: Plott Hound Mix / Neutered Male / 1 Year Old / 35 lbs
Omar is a cheerful, affectionate young boy with a gentle soul and a heart that is remarkably forgiving. After everything he has endured, he still wants nothing more than to be near people, feel safe, and receive the kindness he should have known from the very beginning.
Omar sleeps peacefully in his crate, gets along well with other dogs, is not destructive, and enjoys going for walks in the park. He happily shares his bed and space and loves the simple comfort of being close to someone he trusts. There is something incredibly special about a dog who has been hurt by people yet still chooses to love them.
Omar and his companion were rescued from a homeless man who subjected them to horrific abuse. They were beaten with sticks, kicked, and screamed at. Tragically, Omar's companion was also seriously stabbed in the back and needed immediate veterinary care. Their rescuer stepped in, took them away from the danger, and rushed her to the veterinarian for treatment.
When Omar was rescued, he had every reason to be afraid of people. But instead of becoming bitter, he slowly began to show his true nature: a sweet, loving, trusting boy who simply needed someone to show him that he was finally safe.
Omar did not choose the life he was given. He did not deserve the cruelty he experienced. But he still has so much love to give. Now, he is waiting for the person who will give him the life he has always deserved — a safe home, a soft bed, peaceful walks, loving arms, and the security of knowing that he will never be hurt again.
Sometimes, the dogs who have suffered the most become the ones who love the deepest. Omar is one of those special dogs. ❤️
