Mountain Cur American Pit Bull Terrier

Mentor, OH
Size

Story
Finn came to us last summer as a meet-and-greet/possible foster but turned into a member of our family soon after as we couldn't imagine rehoming him at that time. Unfortunately, a tragic accident with one of our other pets has led us to the devastating decision to rehome Finn. We believe it is safest that he be in a home with no small pets or cats; he chases squirrels and digs mole holes in the yard and we were naïve and ignorant to ignore those and other warning signs even though the majority of the time he got along so well with the cats. Finn is such a sweet boy, he's truly a great companion and would make an excellent family dog, just not in a home with cats or small animals. He exhibits no aggression toward humans or other dogs, and he's always eager to play with other dogs! Having another dog in the home with him would be best for him. He has pretty significant anxiety, but is much better with adequate attention and medication (he used to spin/chase his tail constantly).

This is Prince. He's 10 months old. Very sweet! Great little puppy. Loves other dogs but recommending with these type of dogs. No cats, no small pets. He is a pure bread Mountain feist that came from a breeder that no longer wanted the pups, so we're looking for a wonderful home that has either another dog or is just looking for one dog

Story
I’ve had Sadie for 2 years. When I first got her there was another dog and two other people in the house almost at all times. Now with personal things happening I had to move and take Sadie with me. She deserves a better home than I can ever hope to provide. She should be able to play with other dogs and have a place to run instead of being in my 1 bedroom apartment for 10-12 hours a day. I feel terrible I cant do more for her. She so sweet and loving. If interested you can either send in a application (I check daily) or text me at (216) 804-8961

Story
COURTESY POST Nelson is a courtesy post. He is not a Paws and Prayers dog as we don't have room at this time. He is a male mountain cur dog, is 3 years old and very sweet. He is 70 pounds, brindle in color and very well behaved per the family. We have so many dogs in foster right now, and the family agreed to keep him until he finds a home so we are doing a courtesy post. They took him when a relative could no longer keep him.  Nelson is neutered and up to date on his shots. The family is asking a $200 rehoming fee but will negotiate for a good home. Nelson can be protective but as long as you are consistent, he minds well and is very trainable per the family. If interested, please contact through email at jfmclain87@gmail.com . Please email this party if you need any further information.  If you do an application at www.pawsandprayers.org, we will forward it to the party.  April 30, 2024, 8:09 pm

Story
Beretta came to Coming Back Home Rescue on Easter Day after being found left for death in Alabama. She was shot by a .22(gun) and stranded. Thankfully, someone managed to get her to a shelter, but the situation was not much better. Due to the shelter being understaffed with only two members and having over 200 dogs, Beretta was constantly sitting in a cage with feces and urine. We could not look away at the situation and immediately arranged transport. By the time she got to us, she was fighting two infections on both entry and exit wounds. Now, she has recovered and looking for her forever home! Please don't mind a patch of missing hair as she was shaved during treatment - but we promise, she has a BEAUTIFUL coat which is very soft. Solid with Merle. Beretta has been a great house guest and gets along with just about everyone. However, she is much slower to approach men unless there is another dog present. We believe this all stemmed from her past. She is mostly house trained but may use the restroom in the home if not taken out in a timely manner. Catahoula Leopard Dogs are HIGH-ENERGY dogs and designed for work. Beretta is no exception but makes a great family pet for an active family. It is highly recommended to do research on the breed before filling out an application. For more information, visit; https://trello.com/c/BDYjDAmx **Spay Appointment on April 22nd**

Story
Aqua is pending euthanization and expected to be put down in the next 3 days due to overcrowding and being HW Positive. We are currently working on saving her life and have transport set up for May 4th while our rescue partners in Louisiana work on finding her a temporary foster. Aqua is located in Shevaport, LA and will be coming to Ohio. This dog is Heartworm Postive which treatment will be covered through Coming Back Home Rescue through the slow-kill method. 6-8 Months of 3% Ivermetacin and retest. Even after adoption, we will continue assisting with the Heartworm treatment. This is what they had to say about Aqua; Aqua was originally brought to the shelter in 2021 being found as a stray. She was adopted as a puppy but returned three years later because they thought she needed more room to run. Aqua gets along with cats and dogs. For her full bio, refer to the second image of her kennel card. Please contact us with any questions.
