Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Cinnabon Australian Shepherd / Mountain Cur Mix | ~8 weeks old This beautiful brindle girl is a confident, playful, and affectionate puppy with a soft, slightly fluffy coat and expressive eyes. She’s curious about the world, eager to engage, and loves both people and other dogs. She adapts quickly to new environments and takes changes in stride — a great sign of emotional resilience. She plays enthusiastically, then settles well, showing a natural balance that makes her a joy to be around. We believe she is an Australian Shepherd / Mountain Cur mix, a combination that often produces loyal, intelligent dogs who form strong bonds with their families. She’s already showing those qualities — friendly, observant, and very people-oriented. This girl will thrive in a home that enjoys companionship, playtime, and connection. In return, she’ll grow into a loving, devoted family dog who wants to be included in daily life. If she sounds like the puppy you’ve been waiting for, please reach out and tell us a little about yourself. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Churro  Australian Shepherd / Mountain Cur Mix | ~9 weeks old This handsome little guy is a happy, confident, and people-loving puppy with a sweet, easygoing nature. He’s playful and curious like any healthy pup, but he’s not over-the-top or chaotic — he has a really nice balance for his age. He adapts well to new situations, enjoys being around people, and does beautifully with other dogs. He’s being raised in a social environment and is learning excellent dog manners early on. After playtime, he’s content to settle in and relax — a wonderful trait that often carries into adulthood. We believe he is an Australian Shepherd / Mountain Cur mix, a pairing known for intelligence, loyalty, and strong bonds with their people. He’s the kind of puppy who wants to be part of whatever you’re doing and will grow into a devoted, steady companion. This boy would be a great fit for someone looking for a smart, affectionate pup who enjoys interaction but also knows how to relax. If he’s caught your eye, we’d love to hear about your home and lifestyle. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Brody, a handsome little gentleman This sweet boy is around 10–11 weeks old and is blossoming more each day. When he first arrived, he was understandably frightened — but with the help of a calm, confident dog friend, he’s come beautifully out of his shell. What we’re seeing now is a gentle, thoughtful, and very kind puppy. We believe he may be a Mountain Cur / Catahoula mix — a combination known for intelligence, loyalty, and strong bonds with their people. These are dogs bred to be partners: steady, observant, and deeply connected to those they trust. Despite his unsure start, this little guy has shown a truly lovely temperament. He is exceptionally gentle, especially with two younger puppies he’s currently staying with. He reads other dogs well, adjusts his energy, and shows a natural kindness that you don’t see in every puppy. He’s not a loud or pushy pup — he’s more of a quiet observer, the kind who watches first, then leans in once he feels safe. With a little patience and continued positive experiences, he’s going to grow into a wonderful companion: loyal, emotionally steady, and devoted to his person. This boy will do best with someone who appreciates a dog with a mind and a heart — someone who understands that confidence grows through trust, not force. In return, they’ll get a dog who bonds deeply and gives that loyalty back tenfold. If his picture caught your attention, we’d love for you to reach out and learn more about him. Sometimes the very best dogs are the ones who just need someone to look past first impressions and see the soul underneath. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. Meet Dobby!! 🐾 He came in as a stray on 12/30/25, and we think he is about a year old. Dobby is a super sweet and very handsome guy with a gentle soul. He can be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, his happy personality really shines! Dobby loves to run and play with you, and while toys are still a bit of a mystery to him, we’re pretty sure he’ll catch on quickly. He is a truly nice dog who just wants someone to give him a chance. You are going to love this boy! 💙 Dobby is available for adoption, so hurry in to meet him and see just how special he is! 📍 Richland County Dog Shelter Mansfield, OH 📞 419-774-5892 📝 This is an application process. Story
Hi, my name is Skippy! I came to the shelter in December 2025 with my brother, Scooby. I am very social and friendly, and I love to play with other dogs. Since I am a puppy, I am still learning about the world and how to meet people politely, but I am very brave and learn more every day!

Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6FPwMardAfI Twister is such a beautiful girl. She found herself pregnant at a small high kill shelter. The stress of being at the shelter made her deliver still born puppies. After grieving the loss, she has now blossomed into a happy, healthy girl who cannot wait to find her forever home. She is great with dogs of all sizes and loves going on group walks with the rest of the gang. She is also great with cats. She will be your best friend. Will you be hers? She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: spayed, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection.
