Story
Sonny (aka Lonesome) is a gorgeous 4-year old male Mountain Cur/Shepherd mix who was surrendered by his owner on October 31, 2023. Lonesome has a dark brown/brindle coat, a short half tail, and a beautiful face with expressive brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and short semi-erect ears. This handsome boy appeared to have a sweet, affectionate personality when HSOV Kennel Tech Aubrey Hall helped him with his Petfinder/Facebook photos shortly after his arrival. Lonesome was understandably a bit bewildered about his new surroundings and being among folks that he didn't know, but he made the most of a sad situation and enjoyed extra TLC from Aubrey. The information we've learned about Lonesome after his pictures/story were initially posted is that he really does respond to the name 'Lonesome'. He knows commands when they are are spoken in German. Lonesome can be situationally aggressive when meeting new people. He has some separation anxiety issues and cannot be left alone, so he would need some training in those areas. Lonesome is good with other dogs, but he is NOT good with cats. Sonny/Lonesome is a big boy who weighs 73 lbs. He has already been neutered. Lonesome will be looking for an appropriate home with an experienced adopter.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi there! My name is Bruno Mars, much more handsome than my namesake, if I do say so myself. My one blue eye  gives me a unique look. I'm a pretty active guy and would love to have a fenced yard or a very active family who will take me on adventures. I'd make an excelllent hiking buddy. I seem to get along with most dogs, and would love a meet and greet with any dogs in your home. About cats- thats an entirely different story- they are made for one thing...chasing!! So no cats for me! Older children and teens would be best for me. I have been neuterd, completely vaccinated, combo tested (I did test positive for Lyme Disease and have had my 30-day doxycycline treatment),  and my preventives are up to date. If I sound like your kind of guy, please visit olivebranchwv.org to fill out the adoption applicaiton.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 20, 2024, 2:54 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Meatloaf, a stunning Mountain Cur & Labrador Retriever mix, showcasing a striking brindle and white coat. This handsome boy, at six years old and weighing in at 62 pounds, is not only a sight to behold but a charming and affectionate companion. Having experienced some challenges recently, Meatloaf is a bit cautious in new environments and with unfamiliar faces. However, it doesn't take long for his loving nature to emerge, revealing a slightly active bundle of joy with a polite demeanor. When approached, he graciously asks for hugs and kisses, showcasing his gentle and loving side. Meatloaf's social skills shine when it comes to interacting with children and adults, making him a wonderful addition to families. While his compatibility with cats is unknown, he tends to prefer his own space around other dogs and appreciates being left alone at the shelter. His escape talents hint at a distaste for confinement, so an ideal home for this Houdini enthusiast would include a high-fenced yard. In the short time we've had him, Meatloaf has already mastered the 'sit' and 'paw' commands, demonstrating his high intelligence and eagerness to learn. Teaching him new tricks and commands promises to be a delightful and rewarding experience for both Meatloaf and his future family. Meatloaf is ready to embark on his new journey with a loving family. Story
Balto is a cute 1-1/2 year old male Pointer/American Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on July 17, 2023 by a Good Samaritan who found him at Buckeye Park in Marietta Ohio. Balto was not wearing collar, and he was not microchipped. This adorable young man has a snow white short smooth coat, long legs, a long tail, and an adorable mischievous-looking face with a dark brown eyes, a large black patch on the right-hand side of his face (in the style of the 'Phantom-of-the-Opera' mask), a black button nose, and large floppy ears. Balto is a happy, overgrown puppy who is full of playful energy. He was enthusiastically doing zoomies and running laps around HSOV Humane Officer Fredley Tynan and thoroughly enjoyed his 15-minutes of fame during his photo session on July 18th. After watching his speedy moves and fancy footwork, our photographer joked that Balto may be a wanna-be Greyhound. Balto weighs 52 lbs. He has already been neutered. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Balto will be held for three days so that his family will have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership.

Story
Lila is a sweet 2-year old female Plott Hound/American Pit Bull Terrier mix arrived at the HSOV on November 13, 2023 after she was picked up on Germantown Road (at the 8-mile marker) in the Lower Salem Ohio area by a Washington County Ohio Deputy Sheriff. Lila was wearing a collar but, unfortunately, there was either an id tag nor a dog tag on her collar .. And she was not microchipped. Lila has a shiny dark brown/brindle-and-white coat, white toes on her front paws, a long tail, and a lovely symmetrically-marked face with dark brown eyes, a dark chocolate nose, and large semi-erect ears. This little lovebug has a super-friendly outgoing personality and is a pushover for attention. Lila was full of playful energy when HSOV Kennel Tech Madison Lee accompanied her for outdoor photos late in the afternoon on November 13th. Lila weighs 52 lbs and is fairly strong/energetic on a leash. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Lila will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to reclaim her with proof of ownership. Surely someone is missing this sweet girl.

Story
Lacy is a beautiful 4-year old female Plott Hound who was brought to the HSOV on December 6, 2023 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden who picked her up on Highland Ridge Road near Marietta Ohio. Lacy was later surrendered by her family. Lacy has a brown/brindle short smooth coat, a long tail, and a lovely face with soft brown eyes, a dark chocolate note, and large floppy ears. Thanks to HSOV Lead HSOV Canine Kennel Tech Jared Nash for treating Lacy some extra TLC while she had her glamour photos taken on December 8th. Lacy enjoyed a short break from being in her kennel, and Jared joined Lacy for a brief walk as they teamed up to jog back inside the shelter. We've learned that Lacy is dog selective and does not do well with small dogs/animals. She has been kept indoors and is housetrained. Lacy weighs 54 lbs and walks fairly well on a leash, and she has already been spayed.
