Story
Freddie and George are the sweetest guys ever. Freddie is 3 years old and George is 2 years old. They have the same parents, one liter apart. They are newfypoos. The Newfoundland temperament is very relaxed and they love to lounge about and sleep all day. However, they still love to play and would be great for families with kids older than 5. The poodle helps with the hair and mess. We have a very active toddler (another baby on the way) and a small house which the dogs haven’t adapted to not being the center of our attention and the toddler being in the home. They are also very large (approx. 90 lbs each) and are not aware of their size, they have knocked our toddler over a few times and we feel like this is the best decision for both them and our baby. We our sad to rehome them but we aren’t able to play with them as much as they deserve. This was an extremely hard decision and we want them to go to a home that can give them the love they deserve. We will really miss them.

Story
Meet Graham Graham is a gorgeous young dog. We rescued him from a high kill shelter. We have no idea how he ended up there because he’s really terrific. Since arriving Graham has won the hearts of our staff with his low-key, sweet and loving demeanor. Graham is about two years old. We think he’s a flat coated/newfoundland mix. The characteristics of a flat-coated newfie mix are some of the best. These dogs have gentle and laid-back demeanors – check; eager to please and intelligent – check, check; friendly and affectionate – check, check again; sociable and loving, check and check! Graham fits these personality traits to a T. He’s a gorgeous pup with a luxurious, silky black coat, warm brown eyes and a happy grin. He has the longest legs and could use with a few more pounds on his slender frame. He currently weighs about 70 lbs. He is an easy walker, but he can pull slightly when he gets scared. Graham has had an uncertain past and he is quiet. He’s incredibly sweet. He likes other dogs. Given Graham’s sweet nature, he should be great with kids. This mixed breed makes for an excellent family companion and we have no reason to believe that Graham would be any different. He is athletic and would be a great hiking or walking companion. We can see him strolling around the neighborhood and garnering many admirable glances from neighbors. Graham will need a fenced yard to keep him safe and give him a place to run. We want to make sure he never finds himself on the run, scared and alone. We are smitten with Graham, and every day we fall more in love with this gorgeous, sweet, friendly, regal, affectionate, smart and lovely pup. Graham will be neutered before going home. If interested in finding a wonderful companion and welcoming Graham to your heart and home, get your application in for Graham at www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
