Meet Giant Panda **Giant Panda is a young, handsome Newfoundland/Great Pyrenees mix with a big heart and so much potential. At just one year old, Panda is still learning about the world around him—and right now, that world can feel like a pretty overwhelming place.Panda is a sensitive boy who needs time to feel comfortable with new people, new environments, and new experiences. When he is unsure or frightened, he may freeze, back away, retreat to a safe space, or become overwhelmed by what is happening around him. He can also be uncertain when other dogs approach him or something he considers valuable.What we've learned about Panda is that **his fear is driving many of these behaviors.** He is still processing the many changes in his life and trying to figure out what is safe, who he can trust, and what to expect next.For Panda, trust isn't something that happens overnight. His new family will need to give him the opportunity to decompress and allow him to build confidence at his own pace. A predictable routine, patience, calm interactions, and a safe space where he can retreat when he needs to will be incredibly important.But underneath his uncertainty is a very sweet dog. Once Panda begins to trust you, he enjoys affection and attention and shows us just how much love he has to give. He is capable of forming meaningful bonds, and we believe that as his confidence grows, so will his ability to enjoy all the things a young dog should.Panda may not be the dog who walks into your home and immediately acts like he's lived there forever. **He needs someone who understands that the dog you meet in the beginning may not be the dog you see six months from now.**He needs patience.He needs consistency.He needs someone willing to let him go at his own pace.And most importantly, he needs someone who will give him the time to discover that he is safe.With the right person and the right environment, we truly believe Panda has the potential to become an incredible companion.
