Story
Tonka is a 1.5 year old neutered male newfoundland who weighs 147 pounds. He came to us when his elderly owner was getting knocked down too frequently by this big boy. Tonka loves everyone that he meets and should have never been purchased by a senior citizen. He has tested well with other dogs, but was used to living with his owner and would love to be your only dog too. Tonka did chase the cats at the vet, so he cannot go to a home with cats. He rode great in the car and is a very strong boy who would love a home to call his own. **Tune in to our Facebook page (Great Pyrenees Rescue Society - GPRS) every Sunday at 3pm CT to see our dogs LIVE!  You can also find previous episodes on our YouTube channel (@gprspyrs). If you would like a specific dog to be featured on our show, please email us at info@greatpyreneesrescuesociety.org**.  Hi there! I’m Brock—part Newfoundland, part Great Pyrenees, and 100% committed to being the biggest goofball in your life. Imagine if a teddy bear and a throw rug got together and decided to live their best life as a dog—that’s me! If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’ll greet you like you’re a rock star every time you walk through the door (even if you just went to get the mail), then we might be soulmates. That said, I’m a mellow kind of guy—never one to jump up on you, unless of course you count jumping into your heart with my big soulful eyes and silly grin. I was born around October 2019 and my core interests include: walking at a polite pace, collecting belly rubs like Pokémon cards, and rolling in the grass like it’s my personal spa treatment. I’m the kind of dog who will occasionally plant a soft smooch on your hand just to remind you that I adore you—and also that my belly is still, somehow, not being rubbed. I dabble in fetch, but let’s not pretend I’m out here chasing trophies—I’ll trot after a toy to humor you, bring it back once or twice to be polite, and then stare deep into your soul until you abandon all plans and just rub my belly. Fair warning: I smile like a dork when you do. It's my thing. And treats? I accept them like a Victorian duke—delicately, with a look of mild surprise and refined gratitude. I’m the ultimate fan of low-drama living—no other dogs, no cats plotting my demise, and definitely no sticky-fingered toddlers trying to ride me like a pony. I’ve got a lot of love to give, but I prefer to give it all to you. I’m ready for a peaceful, happy home where I can be spoiled just a little (okay, a lot). So—belly rubs at your place or mine? 🚨 GRU – SURRENDERED AND OUT OF TIME 💔 🚨 Gru’s story breaks our hearts… He came into the shelter as a stray, and when his microchip led us back to where he came from, his family chose to surrender him instead of bringing him home. 💔 Now this big, gentle boy sits waiting, confused and heartbroken — wondering what he did wrong. Gru is sweet, affectionate, and LOVES to cuddle despite everything. He walks great on leash, adores treats, and has become the best puppy pal in the shelter. 🐾 He’s strong, loyal, and full of love to give. Gru deserves a family who will never give up on him. Please — don’t let this incredible dog fade away in a shelter. 🐾 Friendly with dogs 🐾 Walks great on leash 🐾 Loves to cuddle 🐾 Up to date on vaccines ⏳ GRU’S TIME IS RUNNING OUT PLEASE HELP THIS BOY HE IS SO CONFUSED TEXT KAREN 4136298152

Story
Meet Mae, URGENT THIS SWEET GIRL WILL NOT DO WELL IN BOARDING, PLEASE HELP! 8 y/o - spayed (HW+ on treatment) apx 60 lbs No cats or very small dogs Foster says: Mae is a loving, loyal, and playful girl who was slated for euthanasia in an overcrowded NC shelter. Mae loves car rides and tearing apart stuffed toys. she always wants to be close by her person (but not quite on top of you). She knows basic commands and does well being bathed. She is well house trained and will communicate that she needs to go outside with restlessness, pointing, and whining. Mae is not vocal unless she has something she needs. She would love most to have access to a yard yet does wonderful in my apartment anyway. Most of her day is spent napping but she is quick to play with you when it is initiated despite her mild arthritis in her back legs. She is tolerant around other social dogs that are medium-large sized, but no small dogs, cats, etc. She will likely do best as the solo pet in the home in a calm, low-moderate activity household. Mae is currently located in a foster home in NC where she was saved and will be transported to the north/northeast when she has a forever home to go to, the foster is in school and can’t take with her. She need help fast! TEXT KAREN 4136298152
