Story
MEET SOPHIA - Sophia is an adorable Senior lady looking for her forever people. Sophia has been at the Rescue since May of 2025. This is our first time listing her for adoption. Sophia is in good overall health, though she is hearing and sight impaired. She can see to run outside and play, she still has good energy. When I call her, she can’t hear me. If I pick her up and she doesn’t see me first, she gets startled, that’s how I know she doesn’t hear well. She is a sweetheart and still likes to play some. We believe Sophia is a Kokoni dog, that breed is not listed as an options on the adoption site. An internet image search states long hair chihuahua and possibly papillon which also tracks. It also says possibly Kokoni, not many people are familiar with the Kokoni dog, they are a popular breed from Greece. Sophia would make a great companion for someone who enjoys a more chill senior dog. She weighs 10-12 lbs currently. We will list her as special needs due to her hearing and vision impairments. Sophia has been spayed, dewormed, vaccinated and microchipped. If you believe Sophia is your love match please send some information about yourselves and how Sophia would spend her days with you along with a request for an adoption application to gooddogk9rescue@yahoo.com Thank you, Good Dog K9 Rescue Inc.

Story
Do you love cattle dogs, but wish you could own a more portable version? Meet Pequitas Pete, AKA Petey! This adorable, polka-dotted little bundle of fun is estimated to be around 2-3 years old, and can't wait to be your new best friend.  He has a big plumy tail that he wags all the time, and a cute overbite like Geena Davis. Petey is a petite guy and weighs about 11lbs. Petey was found as a stray with a fractured leg and was brought to a local shelter. We were able to work together with the UC Davis Fracture Program to get surgery to fix his leg. After some crate rest and TLC in a foster home, h e’s all healed now and ready to find his fur-ever home! Petey is a high-energy guy who is looking for an active family that can keep up with his ever-curious mind and busy body. He loves hanging out in the yard playing with toys, and snoozing in the shade or in a doghouse when he’s ready to take a break. He is an affectionate and fun guy who bonds strongly with his people and is happiest when he can join you for whatever the day brings.  He loves going for walks, and with his energetic nature, he can go block after block without getting tired. He would be a great hiking buddy for someone looking for a compact adventure buddy.  Petey loves other dogs and has been doing well living with other small dogs. He can be a little much for low-energy or shy dogs, so he would do best with other active dogs who can match his energetic play style. We haven't seen Petey around cats, but he may do well with dog-savvy cats who can hold their own with a playful dog. Petey hasn't been around kids, but he may do well with kids 10 years old and older. Petey is house and crate trained. He quietly sleeps overnight in his crate and is content to hang out in there while his foster mom is gone for short periods during the day. Petey has a voice and isn't afraid to use it when he is excited, so he wouldn't be a good fit to live in an apartment. Little Petey has lots of love and energy to share with a forever family - are you that family? If so, submit an application today!   Petey's adoption fee is $400.   Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. June 18, 2026, 5:43 pm
