Story
Hi, I’m Buddy, a 5yearold, 10.6 lb Papillon–Chihuahua blend with a big heart tucked into a tiny body. With a name like Buddy, it’s pretty clear I was born to be someone’s little sidekick. I can be shy at first but once I feel settled, I turn into a cheerful guy who loves kisses, cozy naps and showing off my signature wigglebutt greeting.
Favorite Things: Buddy enjoys peaceful moments and the comfort of familiar company. He loves curling up in a soft spot and relaxing near his trusted person. Toys aren’t a major interest for him; he’s more of a “quality time” dog but once he feels at ease, he brightens up and greets his favorite humans with genuine joy.
Training and Manners: Buddy is house-trained when offered regular trips outside and he walks politely on a leash. He sleeps happily in the people bed at night and rides calmly in the car. He has a solid foundation of basic manners and responds beautifully to gentle guidance, especially as he continues building confidence.
Health and Care: Buddy is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He’ll need monthly heart worm and flea and tick prevention, like all other dogs. His grooming needs are simple with regular baths and nail trims. Buddy experiences some anxiety during thunderstorms and a soothing environment helps him feel secure.
Other Animals: Buddy has experience with small, gentle dogs and does well with companions who share his size and pace. He is not suited for a home with cats.
Children: Buddy has no known experience with children, so he may do best with adults or older kids (10+) who can give him space while he gets comfortable.
Ideal Home: Buddy can be left alone for several hours and relaxes in a secure area when his family is out. He’d be content in an apartment, townhome or condo as long as he gets walks and companionship. Once he bonds with his people, he becomes a devoted little shadow, perfect for someone wanting a true friend.
Overall: Buddy is a sweet, resilient dog who blossoms with patience and kindness. True to his name, he’s ready to be someone’s loyal Buddy in every sense: devoted, snuggly and full of heart once he feels safe. If you think this charming little character could be the one you’ve been waiting for, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to submit an adoption application. If it looks like a great match, his foster family will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $400.
