Story
Pluto is a fun loving guy who also loves to curl up and snooze. He is a great hiker and loves a good trail. He loves a neighborhood walk too. He loves to tug but never mastered a fetch game. He loves his people but doesn’t particularly love a cuddle session. He loves chicken, and responds to the word “TREAT”. He will sit, heal, spin, high five, and crawl on command. He’s great on a long car ride, and is great a digging holes on command in the garden. We had twins and are sadly not able to provide him with the life he deserves. We would love to find him a family that will treat him like the king of the house. Which was his role before the twins were born.

Story
Meet Maxine!Maxine is a 1½-year-old Papillon with an adorable face, a fluffy coat, and enough personality to keep you smiling every day. Weighing just 8 pounds, she`s the perfect little companion for someone looking for a loyal best friend with just the right amount of playful energy. When you first meet Maxine, she can be a little timid. She prefers to take a moment to get her bearings, but with a little patience and gentle encouragement, her sweet personality quickly shines through. Once she feels comfortable, she`s all about fun, snuggles, and spending time with her favorite person. This petite girl loves chasing a ball, zooming around the yard, and then settling down for a well-earned cuddle. Whether she`s playing outside or curling up beside you on the couch, Maxine is happiest when she`s with her people. She`s house trained, crate trained, and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate. She also enjoys napping there during the day, making her an easy houseguest and a wonderful addition to just about any home.Being a Papillon, Maxine does have the breed`s signature high-pitched bark, but she`s isn`t an excessive barker. She`ll let you know when something catches her attention, then settles back down without making a fuss.Based on information from her previous owner, Maxine would do best in a female-only home. We don`t know everything about her past, but respecting that recommendation will help set her up for the happiest, most successful future. At just 8 pounds, Maxine is small enough for apartment living but would also love a home with a yard where she can chase a ball and stretch her little legs.If you`re looking for a tiny companion with a playful spirit, a loving heart, and endless devotion, Maxine is ready to find the woman she`ll happily call her forever person. To set up a meet and greet or inquire about a dog, please first fill out an application at https://savinghoperescue.org/adopt. It doesn`t obligate you, but it is the first step. We don`t get to all of the inquiries but respond to all applications. Thank you for choosing to rescue!

Story
Gretchen Weiners (named after the Mean Girls character) Gretchen Weiners is a little lady who knows exactly who she is even if her early years weren't so certain. She's around 5 years old and weighs 6 lbs. She came to us having had a rocky start to life and because of that needs consistency in her routines to really come out of her shell. She enjoys affection on her own terms - she's happy to soak up pets and snuggles, but she's equally content doing her own thing on a comfy couch or pillow. She won't be under your feet or demanding constant attention; she has her own social calendar, thank you very much. Like any true Plastic, Gretchen has layers. She's independent and spirited, with that classic chihuahua attitude. Her perfect match is someone who understands the chihuahua temperament and has a calm, patient household where she can settle in, build trust, and remember that everything is going to be okay. She still can't quite make fetch happen, but she will let you sit with her. Probably. Gretchen is potty trained and kennel trained. She does best with a strong routine and would love a home where her days look largely the same. Due to Gretchen's size and consistency needs she is not suitable for a home with children, everyone in her future home needs to be 16+. Gretchen is fine with other dogs however will not do well in a busy home or with high energy dogs. She chases her tail when stressed and that can overly excite some other dogs so any future companions will need to be lower energy and indifferent to her activity. She also would thrive as an only dog as she has no problem being Queen of her domain. We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.
