Story
Sugar is just as sweet as her name!  She is a Terrier mix, born 9/23/24.  Sugar LOVES toys!  She's curious and playful.  She is going to need a lot of time to warm up to her people - so PATIENCE is a must.  She hasn't let her foster mom touch her much, but she acts like she really wants affection. Sugar needs a fenced yard to zoom around in.  We think it would be helpful for her to to have a confident dog sibling to show her the ropes.  Sugar is good at using potty pads, but she is learning to potty outside. If you're interested in meeting Sugar, please contact us or apply today! The suggested adoption donation for Sugar is $475, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Adoptions for -name- are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that s/he can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers.      ******FOR REACTIVE/FEARFUL DOGS ONLY Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2608859##

Story
Dexter is a young Jack Russell Terrier (born 2024) who likes to run and catch balls.  Dexter is housebroken and crate trained, but he doesn't enjoy it and will try to get out.  He's in good health and really enjoys being active.  Dexter is an energtic little guy and he needs someone that can match his energy level. The perfect home for Dexter would be with someone who is patient, willing to play with him and provide proper training for him.  He needs some basic training to learn obedience and boundaries.  He likes to chew on things, but that goes along with his age since he's just over one year old.  He's kind of vocal and will let you know how he feels about something by barking.  He barks at people and other animals, but when he gets closer, he is usually wiggling his tale with happiness. The suggested adoption donation for Dexter is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we only assist the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Last Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption.   Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. Story
Libby is a Rat Terrier, born in 2022.  She is a calm girl, sometimes a little shy and nervous around people until she warms up.  Libby is house trained, leash trained and crate trained.  Her kennel is her safe space and the door stays open for her so she can go in and out. Libby is friendly with other dogs and would benefit from having another small dog in the home to keep her company and show her the ropes.  She ignores the cat she currently lives with, so she would probably be okay having a cat in the home. The perfect home for Libby would be with a quiet person or couple.  She's friendly with older kids (age 6+), so no small children in the home. Libby has a little submissive urination sometimes.  Please help us find this sweet little girl a home! The suggested adoption donation for Libby is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.
