My name is Denzel and my foster Mama Carol says that despite being passed around like a bowl of mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving dinner I am the happiest, friendliest snuggliest dog you will ever want to meet! I lived happily with my first human and friend Cookie until 2024 in Texas, when he became disabled and could no longer take care of us. He gave us to a friend who didn’t know how to care of pups and kept us in a pen. Our first human sent his sister to get us but by then we really needed to see a vet because we had a ton of fleas (I lost a lot of hair) and she couldn’t afford it. So we were surrendered and stayed with a foster Mom in Texas before we came to New York! I now live with my foster parents, 2 cats and another rescue who is much bigger than me and we all get along just fine! I really love all the grandkids who come in and out and rub my tummy. I really just love everyone; I got sent to the foster room the other day because the workers were in the house and I just kept begging for pets. Mama Carol said I was cute but not helpful. Denzel:• Is housebroken with a regular schedule;• Knows his name, stay, come and no;• Loves treats and will dance for them;• Enjoys walking on a leash;• Is both kid and dog-friendly;• Is learning cats are ok;• Is not “yappy” or “nippy” ;• Smart, fun, snuggly and loyal.Denzel just wants a forever home where he can love and be loved by his humans all day long. Denzel does have “marking” behavior in new situations; knowing this in advance and using a belly belt solves any clean up issues. Denzel is used to being in an X-pen or a gated off area at night but would be super happy to sleep in your bed!
