Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Dillon (AL) is a neutered male Pekingese/Lhasa Apso mix rescued in Alabama. Our veterinary partner estimates that Dillon is 4 years old at the time of intake in September 2023. Dillon is good with people, other dogs and and is good with cats. Dillon lived his entire life in a loving home, but his elderly person became unable to care for Dillon and was required to surrender Dillon so Dillon could find a new life with someone who could properly care for him.  Dillon is an energetic young boy who likes nothing more than to romp around the yard with his foster brothers--don't let his little legs fool you, he is fast! Dillon ignores the cat, gets on well with his foster siblings and is a social butterfly once he warms up to you. He’s a happy pup who loves to be close to his people. Dillon is not a pick me up kind of guy but that may change once he becomes familiar with you. He prefers the hippy look and is not a fan of being groomed. Dillon is playful, funny, and super sweet. He is not a city boy as he prefers a yard to run around in. Dillon would be great either in a home with a canine sibling or as an only dog. He is housetrained and leash trained (although he sometimes just doesn't feel like walking). He loves the car though! Dillon has learned to respect the social pecking order amongst his canine foster siblings. He is a joyful, happy boy who is very trainable as he is food motivated. He has been known to put himself to bed in his room when he's tired! Dillon would do best in a busy home with older children who are able to embrace his unique personality. If you would like to bring this boy home, please apply online to adopt Dillon (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org.  RDR's adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter/microchip at an RDR-approved facility, whether completed before adoption or if deferred because the pet is too young or has a medical issue.  All pets are also current on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. We can, however, provide transport support for pets in foster at a considerable distance from the adopter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 26, 2024, 4:47 pm

Story
Millie was born around February 22, 2016 and weighs about 22 pounds.  Joyful was contacted by the brother of a man who had gone into Hospice and left behind 3 dogs and a cat.  The man's brother had owned the animals and loved them very much but he was ill and unable to take care of himself let alone his pets.   Millie's toenails were curled into the pads on all 4 feet. Her flea infestation had caused what looked like bed sores and some of her wrinkles had maggots in them.  The skin covering her legs was so inflamed she couldn't physically bend one of them. Once we got the matted hair off we found urine scald running the length of her underside and covering her back end.  Her lady parts had thick hair congealed with a paste made of urine and filth making it impossible for her to urinate properly.  Even though her pain and discomfort level must have been unbearable Millie wagged her tail and kissed us the entire time we worked on getting her cleaned up.  Millie is feeling much better but she will need ongoing care. Millie is getting OTC eye drops 3x a day along with 2x daily warm compresses.   Millie is currently in a foster home with other dogs and kitties and loves them all however I would not put her with a rambunctious dog as she's not interested in playing.  Millie adores her humans and would like to be with them as much as possible. She uses her nose to follow her foster dad around the house and will coo or snort like a pig at him to be picked up.  Millie has been wonderful with housetraining but because of her age and sight/sound impairment it will take time for her to adjust to new surroundings and environment so be prepared for accidents. We really love this girl and will be looking for the perfect match for her.    The Adoption Fee for this dog is $475.00 Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.    Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 25 YEARS OF AGE TO ADOPT A DOG FROM JOYFUL RESCUES   We keep our pet list as up-to-date as possible. As soon as a pet is adopted, it is removed from the list. If a pet is still showing, it is still available for adoption.   Can't Adopt Me?  SPONSOR ME Look for the Link "Special Instructions to Seller" if you want to note a particular pet Before you seek to adopt a pet from Joyful Rescues, please read our Pet Adoption page http://www.joyfulrescues.org/pet_adoption.html. Story
Buddy is 2 years old, and just a cute little guy but a bit unpredicatable at times....what does this mean??  Buddy likes things on his own terms...if you understand this, then Buddy will be your shadow.  Buddys foster is working with him, and giving him the time and space he needs.  He will love you up once second, then decide no more!  For this reason, no children, but he does love dogs.  If you have the time to understand, work with him, give him his space and maybe more of an experienced dog owner....Buddy could really be the perfect "Buddy" for you. Please go to the link to fill our our adoption application.  https://www.remembermerescueny.net/adoption-application  Remember Me Rescue does not adopt out of the local area, no transport is available.  We adopt to Long Island, Westchester, NYC area and parts of Connecticut only. Also, we have a very high volume of applications and we are all volunteers. We cannot respond to every application personally. Please make sure your application gives us a good picture of your family and the life you plan on providing a dog from our rescue. We choose a home based on the BEST FIT for EACH dog and approve on a dog by dog basis. Thank you! ##1831887##

Story
**WE ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF FOSTER HOMES AT THIS TIME**  Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility.  For adoption information go to:  www.homewardbounddogrescue.com   As you can see by my picture I am a very pretty queen. This is the second time I have been with Homeward Bound. I had a nice family and I was really happy but my luck again ran out. My dad returned to active duty and my Mom went to live with her sister who had one dog and did not want me in the house. Lucky for me my foster Mom took me back. The first time I was here I really didn't like anyone dogs or people, I had a hard life and didn't see much good in anyone. I spent most of my life in a cage and having pups. After a time with my Mom I changed my mind about people and dogs but it took a while.  I still sometimes have an attitude with dogs, I really don't like them around my butt and I stick up for myself. I am a senior but I still have a lot of love to give. No one knows how long they will be around . All I need is some love.   Sometimes people take me the wrong way but my Mom has always seen the good in me and she gives me hope that someday I will again find my special home. Our adoption clinics are at our new facility in Schenectady on John Street, directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) every Saturday (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $295. Dogs over 2 years old are $195. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
