As you can see from her photos, she is missing one eye, but that does not hold this little girl back. Her favorite activity is dragging dog beds around the house and rolling in and under them. If you know the Pekingese breed, these rolling and "redecorating" activities are most likely familiar to you. Pika Pika is shy at first when meeting new people (particularly men), but once she’s comfortable, her puppy-like personality shines. She loves to play with the other small dogs in her foster mom’s home. We prefer her adopter to have experience with the Pekingese breed and be aware of how important it is to keep her safe so nothing happens to her good eye. She is doing well with leash walking, but loud noises or strange objects can startle her on walks and she will balk. Pika Pika will do best in a home with another small social dog, preferably a Pekingese, so she can continue to watch and learn from the other dog. She walks best when she is with a social doggie companion. She is VERY fast shooting out the door, can jump high, and gets really fired up (doing yard and house zoomies), especially in the afternoon and evening in advance of dinner time and "sofa-time." Her foster mother can barely get meals ready fast enough for her; Pika Pika tries to help by demand-barking, and when that doesn't work, bed dragging is the second choice. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be attached to the home, 4 feet or higher with gaps no larger than 1 1/2 inches and attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500January 28, 2026, 6:35 pm
