Story
Milo is a beautiful male 10-year-old Pekinese Mix being fostered in Waterloo.  He came to us from the shelter where he was surrendered due to allergies in the family. He has a gorgeous copper and white coat.  He is a little underweight at 11 lbs so will need some TLC to get up to his ideal weight. Milo has recently been neutered and has had a dental cleaning. He is vaccinated, microchipped, and is on flea and tick prevention. Milo needs a bit of time and space to get used to changes. Once he feels comfortable he is quite affectionate. He has shown his fosters a few tricks he knows, like sit and spin. He is protective of treats or toys so an adult home would be best for him. He is good with other dogs and indifferent to cats.  He enjoys walking on the leash and being outside. He travels well in the car. He can be left for several hours on his own in the house and is not destructive. Milo is housetrained and will ask at the door to go out. He does mark a bit in new surroundings so we put a belly band on him at those times.  He is eating soft food while he heals from his dental cleaning where he had a few extractions.  Milo sleeps on his dog bed during the day. Occasionally he asks to be picked up to sleep on his mom's bed overnight.  He cannot jump onto furniture but can use stairs. He would be happy being the only dog or sharing a home with another dog of similar size and age. Milo's preferred home would have a fenced backyard or someone available for regular walks. Milo is looking forward to finding his perfect forever family to call his own. Due to time constraints, we cannot respond to every email asking for more information on a dog. Please carefully review the bio for the dog and our adoption process https://www.speakingofdogs.com/adoption/adoption-process/.  If you are still interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application form at the bottom of that page.     July 11, 2026, 9:40 pm

Story
FOR ADOPTION in southern Ontario: Hi… my name is Bea. I’m only 3 years old, I weigh just 5 pounds, and if I’m being honest… I don’t understand why I’m still waiting. I don’t know what diabetes is. I don’t know why some people see that word and decide I’m too much. I only know that I love people with my whole heart. When I arrived at my foster home, I didn’t waste any time. Within an hour, I had found a lap, curled into a tiny little ball, and fallen asleep. That night, I climbed into bed like I’d always belonged there. Because that’s who I am. I don’t believe strangers stay strangers for very long. I believe every lap is meant to be shared, every blanket is meant to be burrowed under, and every person I meet could be my forever family. I love racing you to the couch before you can sit down (I usually win). I disappear under blankets until all you can see is a tiny lump. My foster family says I’m like a teddy bear that came to life because all I really want is to be as close to my people as possible. I’m wonderful with kids—even the tiny humans! I’m currently living with a 2-year old, and we’re doing great. I can go from joyful zoomies to peaceful cuddles in seconds. I’ll proudly let you know when someone comes to the door, and I give leash walks my very best effort, even if my little legs think they’re much bigger than they really are. There is one thing you should know about me. Every day, I need insulin. I don’t like the needles, but I trust the people who love me, so I stand still, take a deep breath, and let them help me. That’s what brave little girls do. My diabetes is something I live with but it isn’t who I am. I’m still happy. I still get excited for breakfast. I still love to play. I still love to snuggle under the blankets. And I still have so much love left to give. Maybe you’re the person who will look past my diagnosis and see me for who I really am, a tiny little dog with a giant heart who just wants a family to call her own. All I want is a home where I never have to wonder if I’ll be loved tomorrow and someone who can provide for my medical needs. I may need a little extra care, but I promise I’ll spend every single day showing you that I’m worth it. If you’re willing to open your heart to a little dog who will love you with everything she has, I’m waiting… and I can’t wait to finally come home. Love, Bea PS: adoption applications are here: https://teamdogrescue.ca/you-can-help/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
*Note: Currently, Noonoo is in Korea, but she will be arriving in Toronto once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption applicaiton, please click her.BackgroundNoonoo was rescued just in time after being reported as a stray and placed on the euthanasia list at a municipal shelter. She was given a second chance and is now living in a foster home with a single woman in an apartment. She has settled into home life beautifully and is ready to find a loving family of her own.Personality and SocializationShe is a gentle, affectionate, and easygoing dog who loves being around people. She enjoys attention and will happily come over for pets and affection whenever someone is nearby. She is friendly with people of all ages, including children, and is equally comfortable with both men and women. She also gets along well with other dogs and lived peacefully with many dogs at the shelter. When out for walks, she shows little interest in cats and simply continues on her way.BehavioursNoonoo is a relaxed companion who adapts well to daily routines. She is currently working on being left alone. Like many dogs who have experienced abandonment, she initially found it difficult when her person left the house and would cry. With patient training, she has made wonderful progress. Her confidence continues to improve, and with consistency from her future family, she is expected to keep making progress.Noonoo has a calm nature and enjoys leisurely walks rather than fast paced adventures. She is currently taken outside for frequent short walks and she loves it. She is also able to use pee pads indoors when needed. Noonoo travels very well in the car and often relaxes or sleeps during rides. Bath time is also something she accepts without any fuss.Health and DietNoonoo is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and up to date on her vaccinations. She also receives monthly parasite prevention. She has early-stage heart disease (Stage B1). At this stage, medication is not required. With regular monitoring and, if needed in the future, appropriate heart medication, many dogs go on to live long, happy, and normal lives. Regular veterinary checkups are recommended to monitor her heart health and detect any changes early.Noonoo eats regular dry food and does not appear to be overly food motivated. She has not shown any sings of allergies.Ideal HomeNoonoo would thrive in a home with someone who works from home or is retired and can spend plenty of time with her would be ideal. She would be happy with a single person, a couple, or a family with respectful children. She could also live with another friendly dog, although she would be equally content as the only dog receiving all the love and attention. She is a sweet, calm, and loving companion who simply wants to be close to her people. After losing her home once, she deserves a family that will cherish her forever. With a little continued guidance and lots of love, she will reward her family with endless affection and loyal companionship.*Note: Currently, Noonoo is in Korea, but she will be arriving in Toronto once adopted. For more info about the dog or the adoption applicaiton, please click her.
