Story
Meet Bunny!🐰🤍At 15 years old and 14 lbs, Bunny is the definition of a gentle, loving companion. Don’t let his age fool you—this sweet boy still enjoys exploring, following his humans around, and finding the coziest spot in the house to nap.Bunny is calm, easy-going, and incredibly affectionate. He loves being near his people and will happily turn anything into a bed… backpacks, shoes, laundry—if it’s on the floor, it’s fair game! His little snores are just as adorable as he is.💤His vision is a bit foggy, so you may see him gently bump into things as he learns his surroundings, but he gets around just fine. He enjoys slow strolls, is great on leash, and rides well in the car. He also gets along with other dogs and cats! He’s a smart little guy who’s starting to learn commands and is very treat-motivated!🍪 Bunny will let you know when he needs to go outside (about every 4–5 hours), and he’s working on pee pad training. Because he can’t hold his bladder overnight, a dog door or belly band can really help set him up for success! Bunny does have separation anxiety and would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time and willing to be patient as he continues to build confidence. He’s already making progress, and with the right person and enough time, he’s going to blossom.💛We do want to be honest, Bunny can get a little loud and destructive if he becomes super anxious, so understanding his needs is super important! If you’re looking for a slower-paced, loyal little shadow who just wants to be by your side, Bunny might be your perfect match. 🐾To apply to have your home considered for adoption, read about our adoption process or fees, and find out about interstate transport, please visit our website at https://longwayhome.org/adopt.❤ Long Way Home makes no guarantees on breed--most animals we receive from shelters are mixed breeds.

Story
Meet Clover While her puppies have been busy stealing the spotlight, we think its time everyone met the remarkable little dog behind them. Clover is still a young girl herself, but she has been an incredible mama. Calm, patient, and devoted, she has raised her babies with so much love while somehow remaining one of the easiest dogs her foster has ever cared for Outside of mom duties, she is happiest being close to her people. Her foster lovingly calls her their sweet shadow because she follows them from room to room and would gladly spend the day curled up in a lap or snoozing beside them on the couch. She loves snacks, mealtime, and a good routine. Every morning, she greets her foster with happy little hops like shes seeing her favorite person for the first time. Shes quiet, well mannered, and only barks when theres actually something worth alerting you to. Clover has had no accidents in her foster home, does well with cats, cooperates beautifully for baths and medication, and has proven to be an exceptionally easy dog to live with! If Clover could plan the perfect day, it would include breakfast, a short walk, and then a lazy Sunday spent cuddled up with her family while they read, nap, or watch TV. We were told the home Clover came from was filled with French Bulldogs, Pekingese, Shih Tzus, and other small breeds. Looking at her adorable face, we cant help but wonder if she has a little Pekingese or Pug mixed in there somewhere. The puppies may have gotten the first introductions, but Clover is every bit as special. She is gentle, affectionate, endearing, and the kind of dog who quietly becomes the heart of a home. French Bulldogs are not low-maintenance dogs They require patience with training, and daily mental and physical engagement, especially when theyre young. They are playful, opinionated, and full of energy, not couch ornaments.Frenchies thrive in homes that understand the breed and are ready for the commitment.Additionally, although SUPER cute and so yummy & silly, most of our dogs have come from yucky backyard greeders and so, will 100% need to have owners committed to their unique long-term care, health, and wellbeing. Here are just a couple of things that we need to ensure every French Bulldog adopter understands and is comfortable with. All Frenchies MUST HAVE A FULL-SERVICE vet and at MINIMUM an ANNUAL vet appointment. Big-box store vets or mobile/discount shot services are just not going to cut it. Here's the BIG ONE: thanks to their breeding, ALL Frenchie parents have to be ready to manage and IMMEDIATELY treat an episode of IVDD:IVDD 411 All Frenchie parents must be willing to make the time for daily maintenance and grooming: our Frenchies love their spa time and need (at minimum) all of those folds and crevices cleaned that make them so dang cute. It's a sign of your commitment and care. Bulldog adopters have to be willing to administer eye drops; all those folds make for grumpy eyelids. Last but not least, all lucky bulldog parents should expect to manage the ongoing cost of all the goodies associated with loving a bulldog: including but not limited to: high-quality food, eye drops, medicated shampoo, monthly heartworm prevention, fun toys, vet care, and endless scritches and cuddles (This last one is free) PHEW - that's a list, but these guys are so worth it.Your commitment will be rewarded with the love and joy these Frenchies bring into your life. Once you go Bulldog, there's no going back to 'regular' dogs, so apply NOW for your chance to call this lucky mama yours To see more of our dogs, please go to https://austinbulldogrescue.com to see who is available and to learn how to get involved with ABR.
