Despite some difficult circumstances, Margo has found her way to Safe Haven of Iowa County, where she's showing us what a sweet and loving companion she can be. Margo is the kind of cat who takes a little time to settle in and feel safe, but once she does, she's an absolute treasure. She adores attention, enjoys being pampered with gentle brushing sessions, and loves soaking up affection from the people she trusts. Watching her come out of her shell and blossom is incredibly rewarding. One thing potential adopters should know is that Margo has a history of inconsistent litter box use in previous homes. It was originally thought that other animals may have been contributing to her stress, but even after being adopted into a home without pets, the issue resurfaced after a period of successful litter box use. It's possible that the child in the home created stress for her, but at this time we simply don't know the exact cause. What we do know is that Margo has never had litter box issues while in our shelter environment. Because of this, Margo may do best in a calm, predictable home with patient adopters who understand that she may need time to adjust and feel secure. Her ideal family will be willing to work with her and give her the stability she deserves. Casper was surrendered to the owners veterinary. He had bit his owner after being stepped on. The elderly man needed medical attention and opted to have Casper euthanized so it didn’t happen again. Thankfully the vet office contacted us. Casper is quite upset over the change so it may take some time for him to settle down. He is 4-paw declawed.Indoor homes only unless the cat is part of our barn cat program. Home visits are required so we are limit adoptions to approximately 45 minutes from Cedar Rapids, IA. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.The caped crusader....in cat form!  Meet Batman.  The Big, Bold and...hairy hero that you need more of in your life!   At around 8 months old, Batman is still *just a baby* with some growing to do.  He's going to need an ultra patient side-kick (aka other cats) that enjoy a super playful and slightly chaotic feline, and if nothing else, Batman has terrific main character energy so he could easily be your only pet.  Batman is a teeny bit timid in new settings, but once he has a chance to warm up he is very people friendly. He has not been introduced to dogs and we can't say for sure that he has lived as an indoor kitty as he was trapped and brought to our care as an outdoor kitten.  Batman has done well with using his litterbox but may have an adjustment period in his new Bat Cave (aka your home).   Batman's adoption fee is $125 and includes his neuter, current rabies and FVRCP vaccine, FIV/FeLV test and a microchip.  Batman is seeking a home as an indoor cat only, if you would like to meet him please submit an adoption application through our website, Adopthope.org. Last Hope requires that adopters have a history of having kept any previous pets as indoor companions only, kept altered and current on vaccines and annual veterinary care.
