Story
Diabetic remissionFor 13 years, this gentle orange and cream boy knew only one home. He shared his space with a dog pal, curled up with his family, and trusted that he was loved. But when his family decided to get a puppy, Toby was surrendered—discarded simply because he was no longer shiny and new. To make matters worse, Toby was left with unmonitored diabetes and a coat so matted that his fur had to be shaved off in 2 spots. He had gone three full years without seeing a vet. Brokenhearted and neglected, Toby crashed soon after he arrived at Eleventh Hour Rescue. But Toby’s story didn't end there. Now Toby is safe in foster care, and his resilience will break your heart in the best way possible. Despite everything he’s been through, he harbors no resentment. He is a non-stop purr machine—a true "motorboat"— who wants nothing more than to curl into a soft meatloaf on your lap, make gentle biscuits, and rub his face against you—claiming you as his person, and promising that he is yours. Toby doesn't just tolerate being groomed—it is his absolute favorite thing in the world. He will happily roll onto his back, offering his belly to be brushed, leaning into every stroke with pure bliss. What Toby Needs: We are looking for a very specific, compassionate soul. Someone who understands that a senior cat’s love is a quiet, profound privilege, and who sees his care not as a burden, but as an act of devotion. Diet-Controlled Diabetes: Toby’s diabetes is currently completely managed by diet alone—no insulin injections required! He gets half a can of Purina Pro Plan DM pate every 12 hours and stays well-hydrated. His sugar levels are stable. Purina Pro Plan DM pate is a prescription required food. Fresh clean water: Due to diabetes, there needs to be fresh clean water at all times. Litter Box Setup: Because diabetes means increased water intake, Toby needs easy access to facilities! In a larger or multi-story home, having multiple litter boxes spread out will keep him comfortable, confident, and set up for total success. Grooming Routine: His long, silky fur is now completely knot-free. Daily brushing keeps him clean, comfortable, and feeling cherished. Health & Vetting: Toby is neutered, has had a full dental cleaning (with 2 extractions), and is caught up on all his care. Dog Friendly: He previously lived peacefully with a pit mix and loves canine friends. Young at Heart: He still gets playful bursts of joy, chasing laser lights and tossing catnip toys! Toby gave 13 years of unconditional loyalty to people who walked away. He deserves to spend his golden years with someone who promises to never walk away from him. If you have room in your heart and home for a gentle, resilient soul who will love you with every purr he has left, please reach out. Toby is waiting for you!
