Story
Valentina is a very special girl. She came to Cameron Animal Hospital from a neglect and abuse situation, in pain, malnourished, frightened, and barely able to walk. With time, medical care, and love, she has improved in every way. Valentina is approximately 6-8 years old. She is FeLV/FIV negative, and has had complete bloodwork, which was excellent. Her coat currently looks unhealthy because of malnourishment, and because she was severely matted and had to be trimmed unevenly. As she is recovering and her nutrition is improving her coat is also becoming healthier. Valentina was unable to walk when she first arrived because she was so malnourished and weak, and because she has severe arthritis in one hip and joint pain in her back. These health issues will never fully resolve, but can be managed. Valentina is currently receiving several pain relief medications each day in her food (which she eats well in her food), a monthly pain relief injection, as well as 15 minutes of physical therapy each day. We are looking for an adopter with an extensive veterinary history who will maintain her regimen, which has helped her regain almost full use of her leg. Valentina is a sweet, affectionate girl and often seeks attention and petting. She does not like being picked up or held (likely because it hurts). She is curious and likes walking around and exploring new places; she hates locked doors, and will often meow at them until they are opened- just to go sit in the doorway and look out. Valentina is ok with other cats as long as they ignore her in turn; she does not like other animals who are exuberant and want to play with her. Similarly she seems to tolerate calm, older dogs who ignore her, but young and hyper dogs (and children) frighten her. Valentine will do best in a calm, quiet home with a family who has time to give her the attention she craves.

Story
Let’s dish about our feline friend Gazpacho! She’s a unique kitty looking for her special someone—could it be you? Unlike the soup, this fancy feline is anything but cold! Gazpacho warms up quickly to new people, places and even other pets. She enjoys the finer things in life—cuddle sessions, playtime, tasty treats, being brushed and, of course, being pampered. Her foster says that Gazpacho is the biggest mush, and you’ll agree too! Gazpacho is looking for a patient, experienced adopter who can provide a home for a cat with special needs. Due to a neurologic disease, she walks with a wobbly gait and sometimes requires assistance when jumping onto high surfaces and grooming herself. But this doesn’t stop her from living life to the fullest! A Matchmaker can discuss with you what is needed to set her up for success in your home. A Matchmaker can discuss if Gazpacho could be a good fit for your family.  A Matchmaker can tell you more about her medical needs. Gazpacho has previously lived well with other cats and dogs.  Gazpacho requires a special litter box set up. A Matchmaker can give you tips to set Gazpacho up for success! In-person meet-and-greets are also sometimes available or required for specific animals. Please check out our available cats and dogs above, and if one catches your eye, apply directly for him or her. An ASPCA Matchmaker will let you know if the animal you are interested in adopting is eligible for or requires an in-person meet-and-greet. Please note: Adoption applications are handled in the order they are received and submitting an adoption survey does not constitute a hold or guaranteed adoption. You can expect to receive automated emails updating you on your adoption status as our Matchmakers go through applications.
