Story
Wendy’s next chapter starts now — but she needs a foster or adopter by her side.
Wendy has come such a long way since we rescued her from a Houston shelter. She has settled in beautifully here in Colorado, found her footing, and has shown everyone just how incredibly sweet she is.
She’s now undergone her spay, dental surgery, and the beginning round of her heartworm treatment. We’re so grateful she’s made it through those procedures and is getting the care she deserves.
But Wendy’s medical journey isn’t over just yet.
On September 1st, Wendy is scheduled for an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) to address the painful problems in her hips. After everything this girl has already endured, we want her recovery to be as comfortable and supported as possible.
And that’s where YOU come in.
Wendy needs a foster or adopter who can help her through her FHO recovery — someone who can give her a quiet, comfortable place to heal, follow her vet’s recovery instructions, and most importantly, remind her every day that she is loved.
And if you’re wondering what Wendy is like beyond all of the medical stuff… she is an absolute sweetheart.
She loves everyone, gives kids kisses, does well with other dogs, and would also be perfectly happy being the only queen of the castle. And food? Oh, Wendy LOVES food.
Our vet believes Wendy is actually no older than 6. Her body has simply been through so much that she appeared much older. She has already survived being hit by a car, carrying old BB pellets in her body, painful hip issues, heartworm disease, and the uncertainty of shelter life.
Now she just needs someone willing to help her get through this last big hurdle.
