Story
Meet Willow — A Graceful Shepherd with a Calm, Steady Heart At 7 years old, Willow represents everything people love about senior dogs: quiet confidence, loyalty, and a soothing presence. This beautiful Shepherd moves through the world with patience and dignity. Even when faced with younger, excitable dogs who bark or challenge her, Willow remains composed and unbothered. She does not react or escalate — she simply stays true to her gentle nature. Willow is intelligent, exceptionally well-mannered, and clearly familiar with life in a loving home. She has a thoughtful way of connecting, often meeting you with calm eye contact as if she truly understands. Being around her feels peaceful. Why People Fall in Love with Willow Highly intelligent and eager to please; she knows multiple commands Leash trained and crate trained; walks beautifully and settles easily Polite and gentle; takes treats softly and does not jump Affectionate but not demanding; content to relax nearby with a chew Calm and confident in public settings, including stores and crowds Willow does well with mellow, respectful dogs and appreciates slow, thoughtful introductions. She is not food- or toy-possessive and has a naturally kind disposition that wins hearts wherever she goes. Special Care Needs Willow has been diagnosed with perianal fistulas, a chronic but manageable condition. She requires ongoing medication and routine care to stay comfortable. She handles her care quietly and patiently and simply needs an adopter or foster committed to helping her maintain a good quality of life. Her Story Willow arrived during the post–Fourth of July influx, when shelters are often overwhelmed with displaced and frightened dogs. She was found at a rural facility, calm but confused, greeting rescuers with quiet trust. Despite the upheaval she has experienced, Willow continues to radiate patience, resilience, and gentle affection. Now, Willow is ready for her next chapter — one filled with stability, kindness, and comfort. If you have a calm home and a compassionate heart, Willow will offer you steady companionship and deep loyalty in return. Story
Wanda has already endured more loss than any dog should. She was found lying in a field beside her deceased companion—a beautiful white Husky—and she refused to leave his side. Even in the face of that heartbreak, Wanda remained gentle, quiet, and trusting toward the people who came to help her. When Wanda entered care, she was evaluated by a veterinarian and discovered to be in the very early stages of pregnancy. At the time, she had already received vaccinations and was taking pain medication and anti-inflammatories for a leg injury. Because of the risk of birth defects and complications, the veterinary team determined that the safest and most humane option was to proceed with a spay and pregnancy termination. Wanda handled the procedure well and is now fully spayed and medically stable. Her leg pain appears to be related to an older knee injury with a small amount of arthritis, which can flare up in cold weather. Most of the time, Wanda is comfortable and mobile and does not let it slow her down. After her initial rescue, Wanda experienced several transitions, including a brief escape during a potty break and a short shelter stay. Despite the upheaval, she has remained sweet and resilient. She is currently safe, but she urgently needs a stable foster or adoptive home where she can finally decompress and feel secure. About Wanda: Approximate age: 4 years Female Possible Kelpie / Shepherd / Husky mix Housebroken Good with dogs, cats, and children Shy at first, but loyal and affectionate once she feels safe Wanda is a sensitive soul who bonds deeply with people when given patience and consistency. What she needs most now is a calm home and someone willing to give her the time and reassurance she has been missing.
