Story
Angel came to us as a stray. A very timid and shut down girl, it was apparent that she had a troubled past. We placed Angel in an experienced foster home and this is where she learned to trust again. With time and patience, Angel is going to make a wonderful companion! She is best suited to an adult only home, children are too busy for this calm lady. Angel does great in a car, and she is working on housetraining. Below are notes from her foster parents: `Angel is pretty good on leash. She’s not a big puller but is a stop-start walker. And she’s not always mastered the walking at a human pace. She tends to “trot on” and then stop while you catch up and then go again. She gets better as the walk goes on but is not tough to walk. I’ve always walked her on a 6ft leash, and not kept her in a heel position. We’ve focused on letting Angel rest, gain confidence and going in and out of doors. When she came, she tended to pull & dash out of the side door when it was walk time. It was almost as if she was afraid of the actual doorway. I spent some time getting her to stand and look at me before we go out out of the door. Eight times out of 10 now she’s much better and will walk through the door at a normal pace. But she was the same with the car, the crate and the travel crate. As soon as the door was open, she would try and bolt out. An adopter would need to know that in a car she will try and rush out so they would need to have a grip on her leash. On Sunday, we tried her in the car on the backseat. I used a seatbelt clipped to her harness. She was brilliant. She either just sat looking forward out of the window or lay down. No panting, no distress and no pacing.`
