Bernie is the BEST! He recently came to Heartland so that he could retire from street life. He was found outside by our Executive Director, Jenny, when she was helping TNR a big group of cats in the Lawndale are of Chicago. This guy is so mellow and chill and he would love nothing more than to be able to hang out and watch movies with the lucky person or family who decides to adopt him! Bernie has a great appetite and he loves and appreciates his wet food meals. One of his favorite things to do (besides taking a nice snooze) is to look out of the Cat Room window into the Cat Lounge waiting for someone, anyone to lock eyes with. This is his way of getting you to stop in to say hi. When you see his adorable face, it's really hard not to give in. Bernie is neutered, up-to-date on his FVRCP and Rabies vaccines and he is FeLV negative. He is FIV positive. This just means that there are some extra steps to keeping him healthy. FIV can weaken the cat's immune system. While FIV-positive cats can enjoy long, healthy lives, they can be hit harder by secondary infections. Please feel free to ask our Heartland Team for a more in-depth overview. He is currently staying at our Heartland Facility! We are open Thursday 4 pm-7 pm, Friday 4 pm-7 pm, Saturday Noon-6 pm, and Sunday Noon-6 pm. Feel free to stop by to meet him! No appointment necessary

Snowman is a handsome young white and brown tabby with a story of resilience. Originally found as a stray, he arrived at Heartland alongside his brave companion, Rocketman. While Rocketman was the "bold" one who has already found his forever home, Snowman is a bit more of a gentle mystery. He is a shy guy who finds the big world a little overwhelming, but under that quiet exterior is a sweet boy who just needs time to feel safe. Snowman is looking for a patient, low-traffic home where he can decompress at his own pace. If you are a believer in "the quiet ones," Snowman is waiting to show you just how much love he has to give once the ice starts to melt. He is neutered, up-to-date on his FVRCP and Rabies vaccinations, and is FIV and FeLV negative. Snowman is currently staying at our Heartland Facility! Meet Travisa! Travisa’s journey hasn’t been easy. Coming from a crowded hoarding situation this past July, the world can still feel a bit loud and overwhelming for this gentle young tabby. While she’s safe now at Heartland, what she truly dreams of is a quiet corner to call her own. Travisa is what we call a "whisper cat"—she speaks softly and needs someone who listens with their heart. She isn't the type to run to the door, but for a patient person, she offers the incredible reward of watching a tiny soul bloom. She is looking for a calm, predictable home where she can take life at her own pace. Travisa is spayed, up-to-date on her FVRCP and Rabies vaccines and is FIV and FeLV negative.
