Story
🐾🤎 Well hello there! My name is Tigger! 🤎🐾I'm a 4-year-old, 72-pound Plott Hound/Chow Chow mix, and I'm a big, brindle bundle of love! I'm handsome, goofy, and 100% convinced that every human I meet should have plenty of time for petting me. 😍 I've got the sweetest brown eyes that are just a tiny bit crossed, a few adorable black spots on my tongue, and a big personality to match my big size! I'm a total lovebug and professional snuggle buddy. If you're petting me and decide you've had enough, I'll gently nudge your hand to remind you that I haven't had enough yet. 😂💕 I'm happiest when I'm right beside my people, soaking up attention and enjoying their company. My story is a little bittersweet. I was dumped as a puppy on the doorstep of a very kind older woman who took me in and gave me a wonderful life. She and I were best friends, and I was used to always having a two- or four-legged companion around. Unfortunately, as she has gotten older and begun experiencing health problems, she made the incredibly difficult and selfless decision to find me another home. ❤️ I haven't done anything wrong—I just need a new family who will love me as much as she did. I'm a calm, mellow, friendly fellow who gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, kiddos, and people of all ages, including the elderly. I'm gentle and respectful, and I really just want to be part of the family. I don't particularly care for being alone, but I'm not destructive. I'm simply used to having companionship and would thrive in a home where someone is around often, or where I have another friendly furry friend to keep me company. 🐶🏡 I'm used to having plenty of room to roam out in the country, but believe it or not, I'm an indoor kind of guy. I'd much rather be inside with my people where I can keep you company, supervise your activities, and possibly claim a spot on the couch. 😉 I'm fully house trained, crate trained, and know how to use a doggie door. I'm also a wonderful leash walker! I enjoy peaceful walks and exploring alongside my person. 🚶‍♂️🐾Car rides are still a little scary for me because I haven't had much experience with them. 🚗 I load up, but I'm anxious once I'm in the vehicle. With regular trips, patience, treats, and the reassurance of being able to see my person, I'm confident I can learn that car rides mean adventures—not something to worry about. If I can rest my head or paw in your lap for reassurance, even better! I'm a smart and observant boy who loves to learn and is eager to please. I already know my name, sit, paw, and down, and I'm a fantastic listener. Mostly, though, I'm looking for someone who wants a big, goofy, gentle companion who will happily follow you around, curl up beside you, and make sure you never run out of love. If you're looking for a dog who comes with 72 pounds of sweetness, a whole lot of cuddles, and a built-in hand-nudging system when you stop petting too soon, I think we might be a perfect match! 🤎🐾📞 Call the Humane Society of the Ouachitas at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me. I can't wait to meet my forever family!****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Story
🐾💕 Hiiiiiii! My name is Martha! 💕🐾I'm a 2½-year-old, beautiful brindle Plott Hound/Boxer mix, and if there's one thing you should know about me, it's that Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! 🎉 I am the life of the party, and I truly believe every moment is better when you're sharing it with someone you love! My story didn't start out very happily. About a year ago, I was abandoned at the shelter when my owners left me tied to the fence. I'll never understand why they left me, but thankfully, my friends here didn't give up on me. When I arrived, I was covered in fleas and ticks and tested positive for heartworms. The amazing people here got me the care I needed, and I am absolutely THRILLED to say that I am now HEARTWORM FREE! ❤️Over the past year, the staff has gotten to know me very well, and they just can't understand why my forever family hasn't found me yet! I'm a highly intelligent, observant girl who is eager to please, and I'm VERY treat motivated—which makes training me a breeze! I already know sit and how to give paw, and I'm working on down. Sometimes I just get so excited that I want to say hello or be involved in whatever you're doing. I mean, who could blame me? I don't want to miss out on the fun! 😄 I'm an active girl and would LOVE a family who enjoys getting out and doing things. Walks? YES! Runs? EVEN BETTER! I'm wonderful on a leash and love going on adventures. I load into a vehicle with ease and am always ready to be your co-pilot. 🚗🐾People are definitely my favorite! I am wonderful with people of all ages, from little kiddos to the young-at-heart elderly. I just want to cover everyone in kisses! I can get a little overexcited and jump up when I'm saying hello, but that's something I can absolutely learn to control with continued training. I'm also a little vocal during playtime and sometimes like to "box" like a Boxer, but for the most part, I'm actually a pretty quiet girl. I would even make a wonderful family watchdog because I'm observant and will let you know when something catches my attention. I'm also fully house trained, crate trained, and know how to use a doggie door when given access. I don't care a whole lot about toys, because honestly, my people are my favorite entertainment! I'm a total Velcro dog and would much rather snuggle up beside you on the couch than entertain myself with a squeaky toy. 🥰 And when it comes to other dogs, I am pretty special! I am incredibly adaptable and have an amazing ability to adjust to a wide variety of dog personalities. In fact, I'm so wonderful with other dogs that I'm actually our shelter's primary greeter dog! When a new resident arrives, I get to help welcome them to the shelter and show them that they have nothing to worry about. The staff trusts me to help introduce new dogs and see how they interact with others because I'm so socially savvy and adaptable. I've met all kinds of personalities—from playful and energetic to shy and reserved—and I'm usually happy to adjust my play style to fit the dog I'm meeting. I especially enjoy playing with dogs around my size. I can sometimes be a tiny bit overwhelming for shy dogs because, well... I'M EXCITED! 😂 I promise I'm not trying to be rude—I just really want to play! My enthusiasm is something to keep in mind when introducing me to a more timid dog, but my ability to interact successfully with so many different personalities is one of the things that makes me such a wonderful dog. Oh, and there's one more thing you should know about me... I'm a little bit of a Houdini! 😂 I have figured out how to climb a fence, but here's the funny part: once I've had my little adventure, I come right back to the front door waiting to be let inside! Since I am so talented at escaping, my outside time will need to be supervised or leashed for my safety. Honestly, though, I don't really want to be outside without you anyway. I'd much rather be wherever my people are! I'm a high-energy girl, so I will need a family who is willing to give me plenty of physical exercise and positive mental stimulation. I'm smart, active, curious, and always ready to learn. Without enough to keep my brain and body busy, I might just come up with my own form of entertainment—and trust me, you probably don't want to see what I can think up! 😉 I'm also a pretty fantastic little pest-control expert, so if you have unwanted varmints hanging around, I might be just the girl for the job! After everything I've been through, I haven't let my past change who I am. I'm still happy, loving, playful, affectionate, and ready to enjoy life to the fullest. Every moment with Martha is a joy-filled one, and I promise I'll keep you laughing, smiling, moving, and feeling loved. So... are you looking for a fun-loving, smart, adventurous, kiss-giving, couch-snuggling, slightly mischievous girl who will happily become your shadow? Because I think I might be exactly who you've been looking for! 💕🐾📞 Call the Humane Society of the Ouachitas at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me!****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
