Story
Jack is a soulful, loyal, quietly goofy 2-year-old, 75 lb Plott Hound mix who has already waited far too long for his chance.   He’s currently thriving in a foster home where he lives with three children (ages 9, 10, and 14) and another dog, and he fits seamlessly into family life. Jack is affectionate, steady, and happiest when he’s close to his people. Once the day winds down, he’s a certified couch potato who loves to relax, cuddle, and hang out watching TV.   Jack is smart and eager to please. He’s food motivated, which has made training easy and enjoyable, and he already knows several solid commands including sit, down, paw, leave it, wait, and come. He walks well on leash, enjoys his daily outings, and can be trusted loose in the house when his foster family is away.   Personality-wise, Jack may start off a little shy in new situations, but it doesn’t take long for his loving and devoted nature to come through. He bonds deeply with his people, enjoys toys, tug games, and fetch, and settles beautifully once he feels secure.   Ideal Home: Jack would do best in a home that offers regular exercise, structure, and affection. He can live with another dog or be perfectly happy as your one-and-only. He’s comfortable with respectful children ages 9 and up and does fine around cats who give him space. Jack is a well-rounded, easy companion who’s past the puppy chaos and ready for real life.   Jack’s Story: Jack was dumped as a young pup in a newly developed neighborhood in Texas in early 2024. This is the harsh reality for countless dogs there. Shelters are overwhelmed, resources are limited, and dogs don’t get extra chances just for being good. Many wait months or even years for help that never comes.   Jack is one of the lucky ones. He survived. He waited. And now he’s hoping someone will finally choose him.   This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.) To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com. PLEASE READ:  •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.  •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.    •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation. For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com. The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application. Sandy Paws Rescue’s MA license number # 0272 ##2190043##
