Story
To apply or see more of Ben, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2024/5/5/ben-1 Ben was rescued from a hoarding case in Modesto, where he lived with 86 other dogs. He is decompressing and is now ready to find a home with or without other dogs. A home with an enclosed yard would be ideal for Ben, but not necessarily required. From Ben’s previous foster: Ben has been opening up every day; he is now asking for pets and wanting to be close to cuddle. He is working on being comfortable when the humans are away but does well sleeping in his crate with a human or dog in the room. He does well with a kong as well. Ben is currently using diapers and will benefit from leash training. He is getting playful and allows full-body touch, but he doesn't love to be held just yet. However, he is comfortable being held with a blanket! Ben is 18 lbs and described as sweet, affectionate, and playful, but may need some time to adjust to new environments due to his past experiences. Ben is currently being fostered in SAN FRANCISCO, CA. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more! Story
Peanut is the pocket-sized cutie that will win your heart! Peanut is about 3-4 months old and is a little bundle of fun. She is always on the go and is a happy-go-lucky girl eager for her fur-ever home. She is the perfect petite size to curl up on your lap and would be an ideal companion for someone who likes to bring their dog with them wherever they go. Peanut currently weighs 7lbs and will likely be under 15lbs when fully grown. Peanut came to us from the Yolo County Animal Shelter. She was surrendered to the shelter after supposedly being attacked by another dog and was in rough shape when she came to us. She was hospitalized for a few days due to dehydration and GI issues. After returning to her foster home, she bounced right back and has been thriving ever since. Peanut is a smart girl who loves to learn. She is still learning all her basic manners, so she needs a family dedicated to continuing her training and socialization. Despite her small size, she is an active girl, so she needs a family who can keep up with her busy body. She has been a great working-from-home buddy for her foster parents and will often nap on their laps during meetings and then will want to play fetch during breaks in their work schedules.  Peanut also loves spending lots of time in her foster home’s backyard, playing fetch, exploring, chewing on fruit that drops from their trees, and lounging in the sun with her dog buddies. She would do best in a home that has a yard for her. She is a chewer, so she needs a family who’ll be diligent about making sure she doesn't chew or eat anything she shouldn't and provide her with appropriate items and dog toys to chew. Peanut loves other dogs and has become friends with the other small dogs in her foster home. We think she would do best with another small, playful dog in her new home. Due to her playful nature, she would likely have too much energy for an older dog. We have not seen Peanut around cats, but she could do well with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Due to her size, Peanut would do best in a home with kids at least 10 years or older. Peanut is housetrained using a dog door but her new family will need to be patient with her and expect some accidents while she adjusts to a new environment and routine. Peanut sleeps through the night in bed with her foster parents. Peanut has been doing well being left alone with her dog buddies for short periods but will need time to acclimate to being home alone in a new environment. She would do best with a family that has a flexible schedule that will allow her to slowly get comfortable being home alone. Peanut is such a sweet little girl and will make a family the luckiest people around. If you think that just might be you, submit an adoption application today!     Peanut's adoption fee is $450.     Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. May 6, 2024, 1:59 am
