Story
Soulful Emma is ready for her fresh start! Emma is estimated to be around 7-8 years old, and she is a loving girl who is happiest when she can be on someone's lap. She is the epitome of a darling little old lady, and she is ready to spend her golden years being spoiled like the little princess she is. Emma currently weighs about 7lbs, but could benefit from gaining a little weight. Emma came to us after she was at risk of euthanasia at a NorCal animal shelter. When she was examined for her spay surgery, they discovered she had a heart condition called P atent Ductus Arteriosus. She needed surgery, but the shelter was unable to provide it. We were so grateful that a generous donor stepped up to cover the costs of her surgery. She is now cured from her heart condition and ready to find her fur-ever home! Emma is a mellow gal who enjoys the simple things in life: tasty food, cuddles, and sunbathing. She is a true lap dog who can typically be found cuddling in someone's lap. She thrives on being the center of attention and would be a great little buddy for a retired person who needs a low-energy companion. She enjoys her short walks, but is way more interested in being cozy at home. Emma has done well living with other small, mellow dogs. She definitely would love being the only dog, but she has learned how to share the spotlight. We haven't seen Emma around cats, but we think she would do well living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Due to her fragile size, Emma would do best in an adult-only home. Emma has been doing great with her housetraining, but may have a few accidents while she is acclimating to a new home and routine. She has done very well being crated or free roaming when left home alone for short periods. She is happy to sleep in her crate or in bed with you if you let her. Emma could do well living in an apartment. Emma has a few health concerns, including dental disease. She will need a dental cleaning and some extractions in her new home. She has luxating patellas in both knees, but doesn't require any treatment at this time. Emma's heart condition doesn't require any treatment since she had her surgery. Emma has been through a lot, and she deserves a great family to shower her with love. If you think that may be you, fill out an application today!   Emma's adoption fee is $300.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. Story
This little guy seemed pretty scared at the shelter, hiding under beds and blankets.Turns out he just really likes to snuggle under things...and that's what he does in his safe foster home (see pictures below). He's so sweet-tempered, easy to handle, and just likes to be near his person.Walks fine on leash and is crate and potty trained. Is fine with the other dogs in the household, large and small. Has a great appetite, and likes his treats. He's absolutely the sweetest companion! To make an appointment to meet this perfect addition to any household, go to yoloshelter.org/dogs or email adopt@yoloshelter.org.April 22, 2026, 5:31 pm
