Luella was nearly full term in her pregnancy when she was abandoned at a local animal shelter. The shelter contacted us and we quickly sent one of our volunteers to pick her up. Luella spent several weeks in a foster home where she gave birth to two tiny puppies. Her puppies have long since been adopted, however Luella has yet to find her forever home.  Now almost two 1/2 years old, this small shy Chihuahua mix prefers the company of women and is fearful of men. Luella would do best in a quiet home with someone that is home most of the day. An independent pup, she just needs to know you are near, not fond of being picked up or cuddled. Give her a good meal and a warm bed and she is perfectly content. Most of her day is spent just following you around the house or taking naps. The perfect roommate, she will listen to your troubles for hours and never complain. Luella is housebroken and enjoys having a fenced-in backyard she can explore. She had access to a doggy door in her foster home and enjoyed the freedom of being able to come and go as she pleased. Luella can be snippy with other dogs, but does do well with cats. If you’re looking for a small quiet companion that is easy to care for, Luella would be a good choice. We have a special pair of Chihuahua mixes that need a new home. An elderly gentleman had to move in with his daughter but was not able to take his beloved pets. Ginger and Buster are understandably confused and miss their Papa and the comforts of home. They are a little timid at first, but quick to warm up once they know you are trustworthy. Both are searching for a home full of love and maybe a few treats. Buster asked for that last item! To be honest, he’s a bit pudgy and should lose a few pounds. We had to look twice when he stepped on the scale and it registered twenty-seven pounds. At fourteen years of age, Buster has earned a few indulgences but within reason. Some low-cal snacks and additional laps around the block would help him shed the extra weight. His girlfriend Ginger is more petite and weighs less than eleven pounds. She adores Buster and the two are seldom apart. They are a sweet and gentle bonded pair that loves each other dearly. These two are perfect for an adult or family with older children that are home most of the day. Ginger and Buster are housebroken and accustomed to having a fenced in backyard. They get along well with both dogs and cats. Meet Annie! Annie is a little senior, 18lb Chihuahua/Min Pin/Mix, with the sweetest face that is looking for a home that does not have young children or cats. She is shy at first and may take a little while to warm up, but once she does she loves to hop in your lap and give kisses, all while wagging her tail and dancing around! Annie likes to protect her things, being her person/owner or her toys.
