Story
Hi there! My name is Ray. My foster family calls me RayRay when I am adorable and good and Raymond when I am adorable and not so good. I’m a little over 4 months old, and at my last check-up I weighed in at 14 lbs! I’m a Chihuahua Mix, but my foster mom thinks my dad had to be a bigger dog. I am still small, but I have long legs and a strong build. I'm curious and love exploring, but also want to be wherever you are! You leave the room, I follow! Want to cook in the kitchen? I’d like a bed or blanket near your feet! On the sofa or in a chair, let me be your personal space heater! My favorite things to do are snuggling, playing fetch with tennis balls, zoomies (especially outside), belly pats, and chewing on my emotional support leek (dog toy). I have a super chill resident sister dog. I like to try and play with her and steal her treats and food. She’s fine, but I definitely prefer my humans! I’m very smart and very treat-driven when training. I already know sit and down, and will occasionally even do them! And now my doggo FAQs: Crate training: The crate isn't my favorite place yet, but I calm down after a few minutes. I’m crated in the bedroom at nighttime so I can see my humans and in the living room if I am home alone during the day. Toofers: I am still teething, so I need things to chew on. Housebreaking: Since I’m just a baby, I am still potty training. I do a great job of going outside if you keep me on a schedule. I just haven’t figured out how to ask to go outside yet. Most nights I sleep a good 7 hours in my crate before I need out. The Leash: I’m still working on leash walking. We haven’t went out much to keep me safe from those scary puppy viruses, and my potty breaks are in a fenced in yard right now. Socialization: I very much like being the center of attention. I have been socialized around younger kids but have been living in a quiet house with a teen and very mellow dog for the past month. I’m little and a chihuahua, so sometimes I am scared of things. New people can be scary, but give me time and I will shine! Loud noises outside can be scary too. I do a great Chihuahua shake when scared or cold. I can let out a few barks here and there too. Traveling: Car rides aren’t my favorite, but I think that’s just because my foster mom is too cheap to get drive thru coffee, so no pup cups for me yet. I get scared, and I am quiet and like to be held, but also can travel in my crate.
