With summer just around the corner, HAR adoptable Sissy is looking for her perfect downtime buddy! Sissy is a 10 year old chihuahua who was brought to the shelter to be euthanized when her former owner found out she had diabetes. Sissy is now in foster care where she has been learning to tolerate her insulin injections. Due to diabetes, Sissy is also blind, but that does not slow her down. She learns her way around quickly, but she does need consistency in order to thrive. Sissy is a stay-at-home kind of girl. She gets along with other dogs and loves people. Sissy is a sweetheart and we know her match is out there! Maybe it's someone who's had a diabetic dog, or maybe it's someone who has the time for a special needs doggy. Could it be you? Meet Django! That's "D-J-A-N-G-O. The D is silent. Django was recently unchained from the shelter when his former owner became sick. Unlike his namesake, this Django is a lover, not a fighter. He is approximately 8 years old and 9 lbs. But don't like his age or size fool you; he is agile, spunky, and full of life. After the removal of 13 teeth, he is now in near-perfect health! Django is stoic yet sensitive. He is looking for a patient adopter who can help him work on his confidence after enduring so many recent changes. He comes with many strengths such as being leash, crate, and house-trained. He loves snuggling on the couch, leash walks, car rides, other dogs his size, and outings to dog-friendly venues. ROXIE - COURTESY POSTING Roxie is a middle aged (7-9 year old) chihuahua mix that weighs in at 13 lbs. Roxie was among the 50 that were rescued alive from a hoarding situation in GA, of about 150 dogs. She is spayed now, but has been over bred in the past.  Roxie faces a few challenges; she has exhibited some neurological damage, and her back end doesn’t work as well as it should. Her stride wobbles in the rear and she has a tendency to slide her back feet on the floor. She has occasional accidents that she doesn’t know is happening. She has less feeling back there and tends to bite her feet.  She doesn’t appear to like other dogs, and would enjoy being an only dog. We have not observed her with other pets so we can’t speak to her inter-specie behavior.  Roxie is a very sweet and very loving girl, she is a true lap dog. Her favorite toys are squeaky toys that she will squeak until they stop. Roxie doesn’t bark a lot, but she does have an adorable snore. She is crate trained. Roxie would perfectly fit in a home with lots of patience, love and attention. She is truly a delightful girl.  She is spayed, UTD on shots, HW neg and on HW prevention.Her adoption donation is $250.00.
