Meet Sandwich a.k.a Sandy!! This new mama came to us with her pup Jelly, and is an absolute delight to be around! She is around 2 years old and weighs in at a whopping 14 lbs! She is a little shy in new environments and around new people but it doesn't take long for her to cozy up in your arms and stare deeply into your eyes with all of the love she has! Sandwich is curious but needs some love and encouragement to gain a little confidence! She is house trained, crate trained, sleeps through the night, and is the cutest little cuddle bug! She gets along great with other dogs (with proper introduction of course), but also enjoys her own space. She loves being the center of your attention! If you are looking for a calm, loyal, and tiny companion then Sandwich is the one for you!

Story
Hello friends! My name is Rhubarb, more affectionately known as Rhubs and less affectionately known as Rhubarbara when I'm being a little naughty. You can call me whatever you want, but don't call me late for dinner, amirite? I'm a spry, seven year old gal looking to put down some roots with a new family. My most favorite thing in the world is belly rubs -- anytime, anywhere, this belly is open for business. My second favorite thing is sunbathing. If I had my druthers, I'd sit outside all day soaking up that sweet vitamin D. On my best days, foster mom comes outside and rubs my belly while I'm sunbathing...heaven on earth. As a more mature woman, I'm fully house-trained. Accidents? Not on my watch! And I'm also crate-trained. Sometimes I run right into my crate when it's bedtime, and sometimes I try to sweet talk my way into spending the night on the couch. But once I'm in my crate, I sleep through the night. And I don't mind hanging out in there throughout the day. I'm very polite to the other dog in my foster home and would be fine sharing my new space with another friend. I enjoy going on daily walks, and my stamina is quite impressive for a little dog! So if you're looking for a smaller companion to hit the trails or the neighborhood streets, I'm in! Here's the thing: as much as I enjoy getting my steps in, it's a jungle out there. The smells, the cars, the squirrels, the other dogs, the strange humans -- it can sometimes be a lot for me to take in. I'm learning to keep my focus on my human and perfecting my leash skills. So yes, I may be a work in progress, but really aren't we all? Let's grow and learn together, and let's eat some treats while we do it! But first, belly rubs! Story
ROXIE - COURTESY POSTING Roxie is a middle aged (7-9 year old) chihuahua mix that weighs in at 13 lbs. Roxie was among the 50 that were rescued alive from a hoarding situation in GA, of about 150 dogs. She is spayed now, but has been over bred in the past.  Roxie faces a few challenges; she has exhibited some neurological damage, and her back end doesn’t work as well as it should. Her stride wobbles in the rear and she has a tendency to slide her back feet on the floor. She has occasional accidents that she doesn’t know is happening. She has less feeling back there and tends to bite her feet.  She doesn’t appear to like other dogs, and would enjoy being an only dog. We have not observed her with other pets so we can’t speak to her inter-specie behavior.  Roxie is a very sweet and very loving girl, she is a true lap dog. Her favorite toys are squeaky toys that she will squeak until they stop. Roxie doesn’t bark a lot, but she does have an adorable snore. She is crate trained. Roxie would perfectly fit in a home with lots of patience, love and attention. She is truly a delightful girl.  She is spayed, UTD on shots, HW neg and on HW prevention. Her adoption donation is $250.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Bella was born 4/9/17 so that makes her 6.5 years old. She weighs around 12 lbs. She loves to play tug of war and also likes to fetch. She is very active. She is also a total love bug. When you sit on the couch, she jumps right up and snuggles up right next to you. She will constantly nudge your hand wanting to be petted. She sleeps in the bed with you and crawls up under the covers to snuggle up next to you. She is also a chow hound. She is always begging for something to eat. She is taken out regularly when her foster mom is home. Once when her foster mom didn’t take her out soon enough, she started circling and her foster mom knew she was looking for a place to go. During the day while her foster mom is at work, Bella is left blocked off in her foster mom’s den. Pee pads are left down and she will go on them. She has not torn anything up and her foster mom is gone around 9 hours per day. Her previous foster crated her during the day and said she tore everything up and made a total mess. Her foster mom did lock her in a crate for about 3 hours one day, while she was gone, and she was fine. Bella is dog aggressive and will need to be an ONLY DOG. Even on leash when walking Bella reacts negatively to other dogs. Bella also has a high prey drive so would do best in a home without smaller animals.  Fence is required due to her dog aggression to ensure her safety.  Bella’s adoption fee is $300.00 If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. Story
Frankie is a lovebug! He is a happy little guy who is full of personality, just like your typical chihuahua. He loves to be around his chosen person and other dogs and is fine with cats too! He likes to explore and is good on a leash. He would love to take walks and then come home and nap in your lap. He would love to cuddle up in the nook of your elbow most of all! He rarely barks and is potty trained. When in a new environment he does show some resource guarding until he is more comfortable, so he would do best in a home with adults or children over 16. We promise you wont be able to resist his big brown eyes and that one floppy ear!

Story
Meet Frankie: A Survivor Frankie is an incredibly resilient and loving puppy who has already overcome so much in his young life. This brave little boy was born into a litter of nine, but unfortunately, his mother ate two of his siblings and tried to harm him, causing him to lose his tail and one toe. Thankfully, our dedicated team was able to save him and give him a second chance at life. Despite his rough start, Frankie is a bundle of joy and affection. His big soulful eyes and wagging tail will instantly melt your heart. This male pup has been tube and syringe fed since he was only two days old, and he's thriving and growing stronger every day. He may have a few battle scars, but they only add to his unique charm. Frankie is a quick learner and loves to play with toys and cuddle with his human friends. His gentle nature makes him great with children and other pets. He's also on his way to mastering his bathroom manners and basic commands. Frankie is now ready to find his forever home where he can continue to grow and flourish. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, Frankie is your guy. Come meet this amazing survivor and let him steal your heart. He's eagerly waiting to become part of your family!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Are you looking for a cute and small puppy?  Please read about Gene.  He might be your new buddy!  Gene is a chihuahua mix who is almost 4 months old  and weighs 9 lbs (mid-April).  He should remain a smaller sized dog.    Gene is incredibly silly and loving.  He even has a heart on his tummy to prove it. He loves people, squeaky toys, his Nylabones, and zoomies. He would love a fenced yard to run around in.  If he doesn't have a fenced yard, he will need to get his exercise in the house or on walks since he does have a lot of energy.  He might be too energetic for young children but older children should be OK.   Gene is crated trained and if taken out on a regular schedule, he won't have any accidents in the house.  He gets along fine with other dogs.  Gene wants to play with the cat in his foster home. So might be OK with a dog savvy cat.  &#226&#128&#139He is very loving and wants nothing better than curling up with his human. Gene may not be appropriate in a multifamily setting.  When he is upset, he can be vocal. He is very food motivated and a fast learner. Would you like to meet this sweet boy?  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  ·  YOU MUST SUBMIT AN  APPLICATION TO BEST FRIEND PET   ADOPTION TO BE CONSIDERED FOR GENE. ·  Applicants should  live no further than one hour from Raleigh/ Cary NC.  We would consider applicants who live a bit further if they are a good fit.  ·  Adopters must be willing to bring the Gene to the Raleigh area for all medical care needed until he is neutered at 5-6 months of age.  ·  Best Friend Pet Adoption pays for all medical care until Gene is finalized after he is neutered.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING GENE? Story
George is part of our family and we love him dearly. He has been with us since he was allowed to come home (May 2020) from the pound after he was born into foster care. He loves our kids and plays very well with dogs he knows. He however, is a very nervous/anxious dog. When our kids bring over friends he is completely fine with them; but, if they try to pet him while laying down he gets very anxious. We've tried so many ways to keep our kids from having their friends pet George, but short of locking him up each time when their friends come over, we've tried everything else. We even put him through an intensive three week bootcamp and he improved materially, but I don't know what else to do. He is a member of our family and we love him dearly. this is such a hard decision, but we think it'll be best if he can find a home that is a better fit.

Meet Buck!Buck is a charming two-year-old Chihuahua with a heart as big as his striking blue eyes. This dapper boy sports a coat of light and dark grey spots accented with white socks, making him quite the stylish pup. Although he may appear reserved at first, Buck's thoughtful demeanor shines through as he carefully considers his options before making a choice. Weighing in at around 12 lbs, Buck is the perfect size for cuddling up on your lap and keeping you company. This little guy is already quite the accomplished pup—he's crate trained and a pro on the leash with his harness. Plus, he's up to date on all his shots, ensuring he's ready for all of life's adventures. Buck may not be too fond of having his feet touched, but he makes up for it with his affectionate nature and love for cuddles. While Buck gets along well with other dogs, it takes him a bit of time to warm up. He's eager to play but may need some encouragement to join in the fun with new furry friends. At home, he enjoys playful banter with fellow canine companions, but would also thrive as the center of attention in a single-pet household. When it comes to playtime, Buck is all in! He loves chasing balls and engaging in a spirited game of tug of war, although he does have a tendency to make short work of string toys and soft toys. Currently enjoying a diet of fresh pet crumble refrigerated food and Nutro chicken and brown rice kibble, Buck is a foodie at heart.Despite his small size, Buck has a big personality and an even bigger heart. If you're looking for a loyal lap dog who's always up for a cuddle session and a game of fetch, then Buck just might be the perfect match for you! Adopt Buck today and watch as he fills your home with love and laughter. 🐶❤️**Please Note: All the available dogs listed on our website are getting spoiled in private foster homes. Story
This is Mimi! Mimi is a 9 year old, 10 pound Chinese Crested who is now available for adoption. Mimi was surrendered when her owner had to go into hospice care. Mimi was surrendered alongside Thor, who is also available for adoption through CRT (they are not bonded, so they do not need to be adopted out together). Mimi’s foster mother says she has a laid-back personality. Mimi is not a big cuddler but will lay next to you on the sofa and loves to be petted. She would make a wonderful companion as she follows you everywhere and just wants to be close to you. She doesn’t tend to play with toys. She is very friendly to new people and is quick to warm up. Mimi is housebroken, walks well on a leash and likes car rides, but is not crazy about being in a crate. It is recommended that Mimi go to a home where she can be the only dog in the house. She is fine in general with other dogs but does get territorial about her personal space. She sleeps in her own bed in her foster mom’s room at night. Mimi loves her bed and does NOT want to share it! We are unsure how Mimi would do around cats but we suspect she would be ok with them. Please be familiar with this breed and their grooming needs if you’re interested in adopting a Chinese Crested. Mimi will require regular combing, bathing and hair trimming as needed and special attention to her skin. She has a good amount of hair on her head, tail and legs but it is sparse on her torso which is normal. Due to her age, Mimi has slight cataracts but seems to see quite well despite that. The vet said that she also has a level 2/6 heart murmur. Mimi is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations and has had a dental very recently. She is heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. Mimi is microchipped. Mimi’s adoption donation is $400.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below.
