Introducing Gibson, an adorable 13-week-old Chihuahua mix! Gibson is full of energy and curiosity, always ready to explore and play. He loves spending time with his mom, Martini, and is eager to find his very own loving home! Gibson, and his mom Martini, were both surrendered together to the shelter and have been getting some TLC in their new foster home. Although they love spending time together, they are not bonded and the rescue feels it will be best for both of them to be adopted to separate homes. Gibson is looking for a forever family that can provide him with plenty of love, playtime, and care as he grows. He did arrive to us with a little bit of missing fur due to mange, but he's got the meds he needs and is healing quick! If you're ready for a bundle of joy and endless laughs, Gibson is the pup for you!

Story
ROXIE - COURTESY POSTING Roxie is a middle aged (7-9 year old) chihuahua mix that weighs in at 13 lbs. Roxie was among the 50 that were rescued alive from a hoarding situation in GA, of about 150 dogs. She is spayed now, but has been over bred in the past.  Roxie faces a few challenges; she has exhibited some neurological damage, and her back end doesn’t work as well as it should. Her stride wobbles in the rear and she has a tendency to slide her back feet on the floor. She has occasional accidents that she doesn’t know is happening. She has less feeling back there and tends to bite her feet.  She doesn’t appear to like other dogs, and would enjoy being an only dog. We have not observed her with other pets so we can’t speak to her inter-specie behavior.  Roxie is a very sweet and very loving girl, she is a true lap dog. Her favorite toys are squeaky toys that she will squeak until they stop. Roxie doesn’t bark a lot, but she does have an adorable snore. She is crate trained. Roxie would perfectly fit in a home with lots of patience, love and attention. She is truly a delightful girl.  She is spayed, UTD on shots, HW neg and on HW prevention. Her adoption donation is $250.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Coco is a chihuahua miniature pincher mix that I adopted during the pandemic after fostering. As you can see from the pictures, he is absolutely adorable. Coco is about 7 years old. He's kept me great company and even moved with me to New York City while I was getting my masters. I am beginning a doctoral program and am struggling to continue to take care of him financially as well as give him all the love and attention he needs. Coco is a huge cuddle bug, he loves falling asleep tucked in my lap or on the couch. He gets along with dogs who give him space, he can be a bit anti-social. I have trained him to lay down and stay on command, he is easily trainable and very treat/food motivated but I haven't had the time to continue with it. Coco has some ailments that are treatable, but require medication that I am having trouble paying for. He takes medication for seizures, separation anxiety, and a heart condition.

Story
My name is Harper. I was brought to the shelter with my newborn pups. I was so scared and confused but I was still super sweet and a great mom. Since my rescue I have shown my foster family how loving I am. I love to put my little head under your chin and shoulder and snuggle. I love belly rubs and rump scratches. I am still very playful because at age 2 I’m just a puppy myself. I listen so good to my foster mom and stay by her side at all times. I am housetrained and walk great on lead. I am only vocal when I feel my family needs alerting. My blue eye will mesmerize you. I only weigh 10 pounds right now but I’m a little on the skinny side. Foster mom is helping me get my girlish figure back. If you would like to love me Furever please visit the website at STFFAR.orgJuly 23, 2024, 12:48 pm

Story
*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS *** Clingman is a happy and easy-going pup who will make the perfect addition to any home! He loves hanging out with his best friend, Tassie, who he came to Saving Grace with. Clingman will run and play outside in short bursts and then roll around in the grass to enjoy a nice summer day! He gets along great with dogs of all sizes and energy levels, although cats in the home may be a little too exciting for him. This adorable fellow wags his tail when you come to see him and embraces any affection you give him! However, Clingman is not clingy and does not require your attention to be content. He is more than happy to chill in an oversized dog bed! Clingman is seemingly potty trained and he sleeps well through the night in his crate. He does not show much interest in toys, and would prefer to just snuggle up and get cozy with a blanket. While he may bark when he feels overwhelmed or frightened, he is overall a quiet pup once settled into his safe place. As a low to medium energy dog, Clingman will adjust well to any house or apartment. Clingman is a great listener, good in car rides, and behaves well on a leash. He thoroughly enjoys taking walks with you, wagging his tail the whole time! Clingman will be a great addition to any home as he has great manners and is a flexible little dude. Clingman can't wait to meet you and show you how sweet life can be!

Story
Fabio is looking for a cushy home where he'll be spoiled during his golden years. He could be between 10-15 years old. In case you can't tell, this sweet fellow is completely blind. Unfortunately his eyes are too far gone for any kind of surgical intervention, but he manages to bump around pretty well. What Fabio gets up to in a day: - He enjoys eating. We recently learned that Fabio needs to be on a low oxalate so he's alternating between prescription food and homemade. - Fabio likes to bump around the yard. Not knowing where he is doesn't seem to be a concern for him. He confidently strikes out into the yard on his own. - Stinky laundry piles are one of his favorite places to hunker down for a nap. - Which leads me to the thing that takes up the most of his schedule: sleep! Fabio is happy to take a nap on a person but his bed or a laundry pile is great too. Let's talk medical issues! Fabio came to us with terribly infected teeth. He recently got a much needed dental. After removing 21 teeth he has 6 left. Fabio also had an enormous bladder stone which was causing urinary incontinence. Since his surgery he had some accidents the first week and I'm proud to say he hasn't had an accident in a week! He's great about pooping outside and will even bark to let me know he needs to go. Other than the blindness Fabio is in amazing shape! That being said, he's quite old and isn't going to be running any 5Ks anytime soon. Bumping around the yard is all the exercise he needs. What Fabio needs from you: Fabio needs a calm home. He would prefer to be the only dog. He does not like other dogs so this is important for his happiness. Ideally Fabio will be adopted by someone who works from home or is retired. He needs multiple potty breaks throughout the day and expects to be fed lunch. He'll be sure to let you know when he wants food! ;) Fabio would do best with a yard he can bump around in since that's one of the few joys in his life. It doesn't have to be big and doesn't necessarily need to be fenced as long as he's closely supervised. He is not a dog that is well suited to walking on a leash due to his blindness and his advanced age. Fabio needs someone who is attuned to his unique breed's needs. Hairless breeds need more frequent baths and ear cleanings. As a hairless fellow, he gets quite cold. He needs to wear clothes even in the summer with air conditioning. But if it's 75 degrees or hotter he's fine in the sun without any clothes. Because Fabio is blind, he needs a home that doesn't move stuff around a lot so he doesn't get lost. He needs to be fed a low oxalate diet of soft foods to prevent a reoccurrence of his bladder stone. And most of all Fabio needs love! If you feel like you'd be a good match for Fabio apply to adopt him today!

Story
This is Mimi! Mimi is a 9 year old, 10 pound Chinese Crested who is now available for adoption. Mimi was surrendered when her owner had to go into hospice care. Mimi was surrendered alongside Thor, who is also available for adoption through CRT (they are not bonded, so they do not need to be adopted out together). Mimi’s foster mother says she has a laid-back personality. Mimi is not a big cuddler but will lay next to you on the sofa and loves to be petted. She would make a wonderful companion as she follows you everywhere and just wants to be close to you. She doesn’t tend to play with toys. She is very friendly to new people and is quick to warm up. Mimi is housebroken, walks well on a leash and likes car rides, but is not crazy about being in a crate. It is recommended that Mimi go to a home where she can be the only dog in the house. She is fine in general with other dogs but does get territorial about her personal space. She sleeps in her own bed in her foster mom’s room at night. Mimi loves her bed and does NOT want to share it! We are unsure how Mimi would do around cats but we suspect she would be ok with them. Please be familiar with this breed and their grooming needs if you’re interested in adopting a Chinese Crested. Mimi will require regular combing, bathing and hair trimming as needed and special attention to her skin. She has a good amount of hair on her head, tail and legs but it is sparse on her torso which is normal. Due to her age, Mimi has slight cataracts but seems to see quite well despite that. The vet said that she also has a level 2/6 heart murmur. Mimi is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations and has had a dental very recently. She is heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. Mimi is microchipped. Mimi’s adoption donation is $400.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/ An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.

Story
PERSONALITY & BEHAVIORS Meet Grace Slick! Like her namesake, Grace just wants "Somebody to Love." Although shy in new situations, she adores all people and will snuggle right next to you on the couch. Whether you're giving her belly rubs or brushing her soft coat, she is the perfect cuddle buddy! Grace will thrive in a relaxed home where she can enjoy fun adventures with her family. When she's not curled up for a snooze, she loves zooming around the house, playing fetch with a tennis ball, and sunbathing outside. Grace is also happy to tag along in the car! Although she always likes meeting new friends, Grace needs a home with no young children or large dogs. Because of her petite size, she prefers small dogs and older children who treat her gently. She also seems indifferent to cats, sniffing them calmly through their carriers at the vet. Speaking of critters, Grace is fascinated by lizards! She enjoys lounging on the screen porch, where she dutifully "guards" against any would-be lizard intruders. Sharp-eyed and nimble, Grace chases them off with tail wags aplenty! Grace is house-trained and crate-trained. She sleeps through the night for 9+ hours and politely waits for her morning potty break and breakfast. When it's time to walk (or time to eat), listen for her silly, endearing grumbles of excitement! A quick learner, Grace knows Sit, Come, and Stay. She is working on Down and Drop It, as well as calmly passing other dogs on walks. With plenty of treats (especially cheese!), Grace will master these skills in no time. If you're looking for a spunky yet chill companion, Grace is the perfect fit. And "Nothing's Gonna Stop Her Now" from finding her forever home! HEALTH Grace is microchipped, spayed, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. She requires daily eye drops in one eye for a congenital dry eye condition. Grace is a pro at getting her eye drops and doesn't mind at all! HISTORY Grace was found as a stray and taken to a local shelter. PHYSICAL With her feathery black coat and curly ears, Grace Slick is a stylish superstar! Her sweet muzzle appears to be speckled with moon dust.
