Rescues are permitted to pull on 3/7/26; animal is also legally available for euthanasia on this same date. AVAS will continue to follow the protocols in place for the health/safety of the animals in our care. The canine population currently in our care that are not showing symptoms will be posted on our website for public viewing. Canines will continue to be monitored by our medical staff under the direction of our supervising Veterinarian. Sebastian lived with 10-11 small dogs and a couple cats for most of his life. (8 years) He was the only big dog. He and his family had to flee their home in Altadena in the early hours of Jan 7, 2025 because of the Eaton fire. After staying with friends for a bit, they moved to another house. As you know the fire, 12 dogs, and displacement meant chaos. In October, while the owners were not home, there was an incident with an older male dog that had medical issues and partially blind. The owners felt they couldn’t keep Sebastian anymore since he was big and the other dogs were small. My coworker knows Sebastian, she had pet sat for his owners and her tiny Shih Tzu would play with Sebastian. To be fair to Sebastian, we are looking for a home with no other dogs. Maybe 1 other big dog so he finally gets the attention he needs at this stage in his life. He will be 9yrs old in Feb 2026. He just wants walks, cuddles and to have a home of his own. He lives in a kennel at a Vet Hospital.

Sadie is a 5-month-old 22lb English Pointer Mix. She is a sweet & loving girl. Sadie is an affectionate girl who is very gentle. She needs some time to adjust to a new person, but she is very sweet & silly. She would benefit from basic obedience training as she is still young. Sage is learning how to walk on a leash. She shows her affection with kisses & laying on her back for belly rubs. Sadie will make a great family dog as she is good with kids, & dogs! She will need a family who can ensure she gets proper exercise & stimulation. Sadie will grow up to be a loyal girl who will love you endlessly. She can be cat tested upon request.
