Sweet Pea is exactly what her name suggests—a gentle, tender little soul who is simply struggling in the loud, chaotic world of a crowded city shelter. She’s trying so hard to find her brave, but honestly, this sweet girl doesn’t need more time in the shelter… she needs OUT. Sweet Pea is a soft-hearted girl who would much rather avoid a problem than ever start one. When something scares her, she chooses flight over fight and does her best to keep the peace. She needs a little help building her confidence, but we haven’t seen a mean bone in her body. Give her a calm, patient, loving home where she can decompress and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place, and we truly believe this girl will blossom. Sweet Pea did well with easygoing male and female dogs in shelter playgroups. She likes having her space and appreciates gentle introductions, but she’s just as kind and non-confrontational with her doggie friends as she is with people. She may have more Lab than pittie in her mix, but whatever she is, that adorable Lab face is impossible to resist! Sweet Pea is praying someone sees her potential and gives her the chance she desperately needs. She doesn’t need to be perfect—she just needs someone patient enough to help her become the happy, confident girl we know is hiding underneath all that shelter stress.

Meet Apollo! ??If you like your dogs BIG, affectionate, and just a little bit goofy, Apollo is your guy!At 86 pounds, Apollo is a substantial boy—but fortunately, he’s also a very good boy. He absolutely loves his canine friends and has a blast playing in playgroups. He’s also wonderfully responsive to his handlers and eager to interact with the people around him.Apollo is famous for his big boy lean. You know the one—where a dog decides the best way to ask for love is to casually lean his entire considerable self against you. Resistance is futile. ??He can use a little brush-up on his leash manners, especially when he’s excited to get out and explore. We suspect that as he settles into a home and gets into a routine, some of that excitement will naturally settle down. And he’s already shown us that he has the ability to be an absolute rock star out in the world. Volunteers recently took Apollo to Starbucks for a pup cup, and this big guy was a total professional. He walked calmly on leash, laid down and took everything in, and when an off-leash dog charged toward him, Apollo remained non-reactive and composed. That’s a pretty impressive outing for a shelter dog!So, if your type is big dogs with big hearts, big leans, and big personalities, Apollo is ready to meet you. He may take up a little extra space on the couch, but we`re pretty sure he`ll make up for it in love.Apollo has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis.
