Greta is a young (a little over a year old) Wirehaired Pointer mix at about 50 lbs looking for a loving home environment to start her new life. (She is an honarary Golden in our eyes) Greta came to us from a rural county animal control, who asked GRRAND to help her find the loving forever home she deserves. She's a young lady, tall and elegant, with fur as soft as silk.  The shelter tells GRRAND that she had been adopted to a home where all family members were not on board for a dog, which sadly meant she had to be returned. She was not in a good state when she was returned and was very sad. GRRAND will make sure she gets the correct home with a loving family all wanting to love her so much! Greta is incredibly sweet. She's a little timid when first meeting new people, but it doesn't take long before she's leaning in for pets, hugs, and reassurance. We've also been told she gets along well with other dogs, but appears NOT to be a fan of cats. Greta is working on potty-training and she is crate-trained.  Right now, she's settling in, catching her breath, and learning that her next chapter is going to be a good one. We think she will be going to steal a few hearts too! Fergie’s story is a true testament to patience, love, and the power of a second chance.For over a year, Fergie survived on her own outdoors after being dumped as a puppy. She wandered a local neighborhood, watching from a distance, stealing cat food, and staying just far enough out of reach. It took weeks of sitting with her, feeding her, and earning her trust before our shelter staff was finally able to bring her to safety.Now, she’s in a wonderful foster home, but suddenly entering a world of doors, walls, leashes, and even plush beds is overwhelming. But this sweet girl is starting to understand how comfortable the house-dog life can be, and she’s blossoming more every day!Here is what Fergie’s foster home has learned about her:1. Fergie adores dog friends and relies on them for confidence. Having learned so much from her foster sister, she must go to a home with another welcoming dog! 2. She is still working on her fear of leashes and restraint, so a secure fenced-in yard is a strict requirement for her safety. 3. She loves watching TV in the living room, playing outside, and tossing her toys around! 4. While trust takes patience, Fergie bonds quickly once she feels safe. She experiences mild anxiety when crated, but she is learning that indoors is a safe place to relax.Fergie doesn`t need someone to save her now. She just needs a patient home with another dog and a fenced yard to show her that she is safe. In return, she will love her people with everything she has!
