Story
Reba may look like a chunky little couch potato, but she’s really a big-hearted survivor. After a rough start to life raising puppies in a junkyard, she’s traded rust and scraps for soft beds and full bowls—and she couldn’t be happier. This lovable “house hippo” is all about being close to her people, whether that’s keeping you company indoors or following you into the yard. She’s weaned her babies now, but she still likes to stay near and soak up the comfort she’s found. Reba enjoys easygoing pack walks, belly rubs, and simply being part of your daily life. She’s ready to be someone’s loyal shadow, constant companion, and snuggle buddy for life.

Story
Meet Rey - Strong, Independent, and Ready for Adventure Like her Star Wars namesake, Rey is a survivor. She beat parvo at just 8 weeks old and has been thriving ever since here at Flying B. She’s the quiet observer of our pack — independent, thoughtful, and always taking it all in before jumping in. Rey recently befriended a more outgoing rescue dog, who’s shown her the joys of snuggling, and now she’s learning that affection is pretty great, too. Rey is curious and bright, learning how to be a good pup one day at a time. She loves exploring during pack walks and would thrive in a home with a yard where she can sniff, roam, and stretch those explorer legs. If you’re looking for a smart, sweet soul with a gentle spirit and a spark of adventure—Rey is ready for her next chapter.

Story
Meet Powder! Skin and bones when he was found, Powder is now living large at Flying B—literally and figuratively. This boy LOVES to eat and gobbles up every meal like it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him. (And honestly, it might’ve been!) We know he’ll learn that food will always be there for him from now on. Powder is young, playful, and happiest when he’s part of the pack—running, playing, and soaking up all the love and attention. He recently lost part of his tail due to “happy tail” gone wild. We tried everything to save it, but ultimately, a little tail amputation was the best (and safest) choice. Now he rocks his little nub like a champ—and we think it just makes him even more adorable. Powder is pure sweetness and is so ready for a forever family to call his own. Could it be you?

Story
Seamus is a big boy at over 80 lbs, but he is just one big old hunk of love. He is a very smart guy too and, after apparently having been dumped on a country road, set out and found himself some very nice humans who took him in out of the cold and made sure he was ok. He is very grateful and shows that with lots of love and kisses. His big hope is that he will soon be in a furever home where he can stay for the rest of his life! Can it be yours?

Story
Meet Skippy – the Dog-Lover’s Dog If dogs could hand out friendship bracelets, Skippy would be covered in them. This boy lives for his four-legged friends! A true social butterfly, Skippy thrives in playgroups at OHAR and is happiest when he's surrounded by canine companions. Whether it’s a game of chase, a sniff session, or just lounging in the sun with a buddy, Skippy is all in.But when it comes to humans… Skippy’s heart is a little guarded. You see, Skippy has been let down more times than we can count. His journey began at the Mesquite Animal Shelter way back in 2017. OHAR stepped in to give him a chance, but his first foster placement wasn’t the right fit. Thankfully, an experienced foster took him in and gave him the time, structure, and love he needed to blossom into the amazing pup he truly is.He found what we hoped would be his forever home in 2020, but sadly, Skippy has found himself back with us—returned because his adopters couldn't provide the guidance he still needs. The one human who has ever made Skippy feel safe was his foster mama. She saw his heart, his potential, and never gave up on him.And we won’t either.Skippy deserves more than just another stop on his journey—he deserves his person. Someone patient, experienced, and kind. Someone who understands that trust is earned, not expected. Someone who will let Skippy shine in his own time.Could that someone be you?Let’s show Skippy that forever really does exist.

Story
When you walk in the bay where Darby is she lets you know she’s there! She can be vocal. She’s a 3 yr-old 73lb English pointer/German shorthair pointer that arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 7/31 as a stray. She’s very active but once out of the kennel, she settled down somewhat. She does sit for treats and takes them gently. When I called her from across the yard she came running to me. When I sat down, she came to me and wanted to get on my lap. But she also wanted to get my treats out of my pocket. She likes you to throw a ball for her and she will retrieve it. She has a lot of energy and will need a lot of exercise and enrichment. She is a really good dog, but her energy will need to be channeled. She does have a strong pull on the leash. She will need a large space to run in, but after she has run her energy out, she would love to be indoors, cuddling on the couch or in her own bed to be close to her family companions.
