Story
I purchased midnight from a shelter when he was a puppy. I had 2 other females that he got along with great. He is kennel trained and house broken but is a very large dog and needs someone strong to be able to handle due to pulling on leashes. I recently took in a stray about a year ago older male dog and they do not get along. Midnight is very good with kids but would suggest older due to sometimes knocking smaller children down. He is a cuddles and believes he is a lap dog and loves to be petted.

Story
Seamus is a big boy at over 80 lbs, but he is just one big old hunk of love. He is a very smart guy too and, after apparently having been dumped on a country road, set out and found himself some very nice humans who took him in out of the cold and made sure he was ok. He is very grateful and shows that with lots of love and kisses. His big hope is that he will soon be in a furever home where he can stay for the rest of his life! Can it be yours?

Meet Reba is the sweetest House Hippo! Reba has lived a hard life—raising babies in a junkyard, surviving on scraps—but you’d never know it from the love she gives. She holds no grudges, just a big heart full of gratitude for full bowls and kind hands. Now that her pups have been adopted, Reba is soaking up the love and comfort she’s long deserved. She’s incredibly affectionate and always wants to be near her people—whether it’s snuggling on the couch or gently tagging along on a slow, easy pack walk. Reba would thrive as an indoor/outdoor dog, always close by when you’re home. She’s ready for her soft landing, and she’ll return the favor with endless devotion. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal shadow with a heart of gold, Reba’s your girl.

Meet Skippy – the Dog-Lover’s Dog If dogs could hand out friendship bracelets, Skippy would be covered in them. This boy lives for his four-legged friends! A true social butterfly, Skippy thrives in playgroups at OHAR and is happiest when he's surrounded by canine companions. Whether it’s a game of chase, a sniff session, or just lounging in the sun with a buddy, Skippy is all in.But when it comes to humans… Skippy’s heart is a little guarded. You see, Skippy has been let down more times than we can count. His journey began at the Mesquite Animal Shelter way back in 2017. OHAR stepped in to give him a chance, but his first foster placement wasn’t the right fit. Thankfully, an experienced foster took him in and gave him the time, structure, and love he needed to blossom into the amazing pup he truly is.He found what we hoped would be his forever home in 2020, but sadly, Skippy has found himself back with us—returned because his adopters couldn't provide the guidance he still needs. The one human who has ever made Skippy feel safe was his foster mama. She saw his heart, his potential, and never gave up on him.And we won’t either.Skippy deserves more than just another stop on his journey—he deserves his person. Someone patient, experienced, and kind. Someone who understands that trust is earned, not expected. Someone who will let Skippy shine in his own time.Could that someone be you?Let’s show Skippy that forever really does exist.

Story
Please contact Tonya Griffith (TMSGriffith@aol.com) for more information about this pet.Posted on 10/13/23, and the pictures were taken on 10/6/23.  Cora was at the Smith County, TX Animal Shelter for 30 days, so we tagged her, and picked her up on 9/23.  She is very energetic, so may not be good around smaller children.  We don't know if she is house or crate trained, she does well on a leash, but needs more work, and is good with other dogs.  We have not seen any signs of her trying to dig or climb over the fencing.  We don't know how she is with cats.  She was estimated to be 1 year 6 months old on 8/28/23 weighing 49.6 pounds.  She will be spayed on 10/18/23, and his heartworm negative. $25 adoption fee, since donations were made for her vet care.November 6, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
Hershiee is still a baby. Hershiee is very playful, I believe she needs room to run and have space. Hershiee is potty trained but still struggles to hold her pee and poop at times. Hershiee loves dog food, fruit and water. Hershiee is very talkative and communicates with her various of noises. I believe she needs a home with a backyard to be able to run around and burn energy.
