Story
Meet Reno! He is a stunning Labrador mix around 45-50 lbs and about 2-3 years old. Reno is a total sweetheart and has a sweet submissive personality. He does the cutest little tippy tappy dance with his feet when he’s excited to see you. He knows how to sit, and he catches treats! Reno is very food motivated which will help make training a breeze. Unfortunately before he came to the shelter he was allowed to roam and was beat up by other dogs. He came to us pretty beat up with lots of lacerations, but he has healed beautifully with minimal scarring. Despite that, Reno does well with other dogs and has maintained a friendly attitude. Reno is up to date on shots and preventative, and neutered. He is heartworm positive, but has started the slow kill, he will need to stay on heartworm preventative, like every dog should.

Story
Layka is a delightful young female mixed breed  born August 27, 2021, weighing 50 pounds.  Layka a zest for life and an infectious enthusiasm that will brighten any home. Born with a naturally happy and outgoing personality, Layka thrives on adventure and loves the thrill of exploring new places. Her playful spirit and love for cuddles make her an ideal companion for families who enjoy an active lifestyle and plenty of affection. Layka is best suited for a household where she can be the only dog, allowing her to soak up all the love and attention she deserves. While she is naturally joyful and affectionate, Layka will benefit from socialization and training to help her adjust to her new environment and become the best version of herself. Our In-Home Experience with the Lovely Layka Layka is a delightful and silly girl who will undoubtedly capture your heart, one laugh at a time. From the moment she arrived at our home, her curiosity was evident—she sniffed every inch of the place and quickly decided that the couch was her favorite spot. A Day in the Life of Layka Layka's daily routine is a charming mix of relaxation and playful energy. About 75% of her day is spent as a content couch potato, while the remaining 25% is dedicated to her puppy zoomies, where she eagerly wants to play. Her play mode often involves heading to the backyard for a game of "fetch" with her Kong ball. Fetch deserves quotation marks because, more often than not, Layka ends up throwing the ball in the air herself and chasing it around like an exuberant baby kangaroo. She sprints full speed from one end of the yard to the other, taking frequent pit stops at the kitchen water dish for huge, refreshing slurps. It's essential to have a nice big bowl because Layka loves her water! After about 10-15 minutes of this energetic play, she sprints back inside, bringing her ball to the couch as a signal that she's all tuckered out. A Perfect Work-From-Home Companion I work from home, and Layka has proven to be a wonderful coworker. She spends her time in the living room, keeping an eye on passersby from the window. Every half hour or so, she trots into my office for a brief session of belly rubs and kisses before returning to her relaxing routine. Having Layka around has made my workdays much more enjoyable. Settling In and House Training Layka is house-trained, although she did have a couple of accidents during her first week with us, which we attributed to being in a new environment. She quickly learned to stand by the back door and gaze at us when she wanted to be let outside. Occasionally, she just wanted to enjoy the sunshine. When ready to come back in, she would sit politely at the door and give a short little bark to let us know. Overall, Layka has brought endless joy and laughter into our home. Her playful antics and loving demeanor have made her a beloved member of our household. By welcoming Layka into your home, you're inviting a happy and playful companion into your life. Her adventurous spirit and affectionate nature are sure to fill your days with joy and warmth. If you're ready for a lively and loving furry friend, Layka might just be the perfect match for your family! If interested please go to our website and fill out an application. Story
Meet Harley B Breed: English Pointer Mix Sex: Female DOB: 1/13/2021 Weight: 40 Pounds Health: Healthy and spayed Harley B is a beautiful medium-sized girl with a gentle soul, a playful spirit, and a heart ready to give her whole love to the right family. At five years old, she has the wonderful balance of maturity and energy — she’s past the puppy chaos but still full of life, curiosity, and enthusiasm for the world around her. Harley may be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her affectionate and loyal personality shines through in the most wonderful way. Personality, Breed Info & Expectations As an English Pointer / Terrier Mix, Harley will be an intelligent, affectionate, and energetic companion with a wonderful balance of athleticism and loyalty. This breed mix often combines the English Pointer's friendly, eager-to-please nature with the Terrier's confidence, curiosity, and spirited personality. They are social dogs that enjoy being part of the family and thrive when included in everyday activities. These dogs are naturally active and benefit from regular exercise, outdoor adventures, and opportunities to explore. They are quick learners who respond well to positive reinforcement training and enjoy activities that challenge both their mind and body. Whether it's hiking, playing fetch, or simply spending time with their favorite people, they are happiest when they have a job to do and plenty of companionship. An English Pointer / Terrier Mix would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily exercise and outdoor adventures Continued positive reinforcement training Mental stimulation and enrichment Structure, consistency, and routine Plenty of companionship and family interaction A lifelong commitment to their emotional and physical well-being With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, an English Pointer / Terrier Mix grows into a loyal, well-mannered, and devoted companion who enjoys both active adventures and quiet time with the people they love. Breed & Lifestyle Traits Harley is an active, intelligent dog who thrives with regular exercise and mental stimulation. Dogs like Harley enjoy structure and routine, and they tend to form strong bonds with their humans. She does best when she has opportunities to move, explore, and interact with the world around her, making her a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle. Training & Home Life Harley is already fully potty trained and crate trained, which makes her transition into a new home much smoother. She knows her basic commands and has a great foundation to continue building on with positive reinforcement training. She does well with other dogs and enjoys having canine companions around. However, Harley would do best in a home without cats or young children, as she thrives in a calmer, structured environment where she can feel relaxed and secure. ‍♀️ Activity Needs Harley loves movement and activity. Walks, outdoor time, and play sessions are some of her favorite things. A home with a yard would be ideal for her so she can stretch her legs and enjoy the outdoors. She would do wonderfully with an adopter who enjoys walks, light adventures, and spending quality time engaging with their dog. ⚠️ Things to Consider Before adopting Harley, it's important to consider your lifestyle and long-term stability. Are pets allowed where you live now and in the future? Do you have the time to provide daily exercise and companionship? Are you prepared for routine veterinary care and long-term financial responsibility? Are you ready for a commitment that lasts for the rest of Harley’s life? Adoption means providing a safe, loving home through every stage of life. Vet Care Although Harley is healthy and already spayed, it is important to establish care with your own veterinarian soon after adoption. This helps maintain her health through regular checkups and preventative care. Understanding the 3-3-3 Rule Like most rescue dogs, Harley will need time to adjust to a new home. The first 3 days she may feel unsure or overwhelmed while she decompresses. The first 3 weeks she will begin learning your routine and feeling more secure. By 3 months, her confidence will grow and her loving personality will truly shine. Patience and consistency during this transition will help Harley thrive. Why Harley B Is So Special Harley B is a wonderful dog who simply needs the right environment to shine. With patience, love, and an active lifestyle, she will become an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. She is ready to share adventures, daily walks, and quiet moments with someone who will appreciate her sweet nature and gentle heart. For the right person or couple looking for a loving, active companion, Harley B could be the perfect best friend. Meet Daisy! ❤️ A Happy, Easygoing English Pointer Mix with a Heart Full of Sunshine! Breed: English Pointer Mix Gender: Female Age: 3 Years DOB: 11/08/2023 Weight: 33 lbs (15 kg) Good With: Dogs ✔️ | Kids ✔️ | Cats: Unknown Personality: Happy, Calm, Easygoing, and Relaxed Medical: Spayed ✔️ | Vaccinated ✔️ | Currently Halfway Through Treatment for Ehrlichiosis ❤️ Personality & Breed Information Meet Daisy, a beautiful 3-year-old English Pointer mix weighing approximately 33 pounds! This lovely girl has a happy, relaxed personality and a gentle approach to life that makes her especially endearing. Daisy is the kind of dog who appreciates the simple pleasures — companionship, a comfortable place to relax, and opportunities to enjoy the world around her. Her easygoing temperament makes her a promising companion for someone looking for a dog who can enjoy daily activities without needing constant excitement. About the English Pointer Mix English Pointers are athletic, intelligent sporting dogs originally bred to locate game birds. They are known for their affectionate nature, stamina, and enthusiasm for outdoor activities. As an English Pointer mix, Daisy may inherit characteristics such as: Affectionate and Loyal: Pointers often develop strong relationships with their families. Intelligent and Responsive: Many enjoy learning and working alongside their people. Athletic: They can appreciate walks, outdoor exploration, and regular exercise. Sociable: Pointers are often friendly companions. Curious: Their hunting heritage can create a strong interest in interesting scents and outdoor environments. Although Pointers are generally active dogs, Daisy's known personality is happy and laid-back. Her individual energy level and exercise needs should guide her daily routine rather than breed expectations alone. Daisy's Ideal Home Daisy would be a lovely match for an individual, couple, or family seeking an affectionate, easygoing adult companion. At 33 pounds, she is a manageable medium-sized dog who could enjoy either a house or an apartment, provided her exercise and companionship needs are met. She is considered suitable for homes with other dogs and children, with appropriate introductions and supervision. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown. A family that appreciates peaceful companionship, comfortable routines, and gentle daily adventures could be an excellent fit for Daisy. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect At approximately 2–3 years old, Daisy has moved beyond puppyhood but may still need help learning the expectations of a new household. Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so her family should be prepared to reinforce house training, leash manners, basic commands, and household routines through positive reinforcement. Daisy's relaxed temperament may make her a pleasant companion for a quieter lifestyle, although she will still benefit from appropriate exercise and mental enrichment. Once her veterinarian clears her for normal activity, she may enjoy daily walks, gentle games, scent-based activities, and outdoor exploration. Because she is currently undergoing treatment for ehrlichiosis, her exercise should remain gentle and follow veterinary guidance until her treatment and recovery have been evaluated. The 3-3-3 Rule Every rescue dog needs time to adjust: 3 Days: Decompress and begin feeling safe. 3 Weeks: Learn household routines and develop confidence. 3 Months: Build trust and feel comfortable with her family. These are general guidelines rather than deadlines. A calm environment, predictable routine, and patience will help Daisy settle into her forever home. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Daisy is spayed and vaccinated. She is also currently halfway through treatment for ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne bacterial infection that requires appropriate veterinary care and follow-up. Understanding Ehrlichiosis Ehrlichiosis is caused by bacteria transmitted through infected tick bites. It can affect a dog's blood cells and may cause symptoms such as fatigue, fever, reduced appetite, joint discomfort, or changes in platelet counts. Some dogs show few obvious symptoms, while others require closer medical monitoring. Daisy's treatment is already underway, but she has not yet completed her prescribed course. Her adopter must understand the importance of finishing treatment and following veterinary recommendations. Her care may include: Completing all prescribed medication exactly as directed. Attending follow-up veterinary appointments. Monitoring blood counts or other laboratory results when recommended. Maintaining consistent tick prevention. Watching for unusual tiredness, reduced appetite, bruising, bleeding, or other concerning symptoms. Ehrlichiosis is not typically transmitted directly from one dog to another through normal contact. Transmission primarily occurs through infected ticks, making effective tick control important. Many dogs respond well to appropriate treatment, but recovery and follow-up needs vary. Daisy should not be considered medically cleared until her veterinarian confirms her status. English Pointer Health Considerations English Pointers may have inherited predispositions to certain conditions, including hip dysplasia, eye disorders, and skin sensitivities. These are general breed considerations, not diagnosed conditions in Daisy. Her future family should provide balanced nutrition, routine veterinary examinations, dental care, parasite prevention, grooming, and appropriate exercise. Daisy deserves a family prepared to support her through the remainder of her ehrlichiosis treatment and provide attentive, lifelong healthcare. Adoption Information Ready to give Daisy the loving home she deserves? Apply to Adopt: https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/adoptions Ozzie and Friends Rescue is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs in need and finding them safe, loving forever homes. We coordinate safe transportation for approved adopters throughout the United States, subject to veterinary clearance and completion of any necessary medical requirements. Because Daisy is currently receiving treatment for ehrlichiosis, her medical status, remaining treatment, follow-up care, and transportation eligibility must be reviewed before adoption arrangements are finalized. Daisy is a beautiful, happy girl with a wonderfully relaxed spirit and so much love to give. At just 2–3 years old, she has many happy years ahead of her, and she deserves a family who will stand beside her as she completes her treatment and begins her next chapter. With her easygoing personality and affectionate potential, Daisy could become a truly special companion. Could you be the one to give this sweet girl the safe, loving forever home she's been waiting for? ❤️November 7, 2026, 10:07 am
