While he may be shy when first meeting new people, Shorty quickly warms up and shows his friendly, playful personality.Shorty gets along well with other dogs and generally does well with adults and older children. However, he would not be the best match for a home with small children. At times, he can display some temperamental behavior, so he will thrive with an experienced adopter who is comfortable providing consistent guidance and structure.Shorty is looking for a patient, understanding home where he can feel secure and loved. Sawyer is an adorable senior Chihuahua mix who was found as a stray on a busy road late at night after several near encounters with passing vehicles. A Good Samaritan safely removed him from danger and brought him home. When efforts to locate an owner were unsuccessful, Sawyer entered a Misty Eyes foster home, where he is now safe and receiving excellent care.Sawyer arrived somewhat overweight, but has been making steady progress toward a healthier weight in foster care. He tested positive for Ehrlichia, a tick-borne disease; however, he is asymptomatic and does not require treatment at this time.While Sawyer may need a little time to feel fully secure in a new environment, he is a very sweet and friendly companion. He is not overly vocal and gets along well with other dogs. Sawyer would do best in a calm, quiet home where he can enjoy the comfort and affection he deserves.
