Story
Mr. Bob may be small in stature, but he carries the heart and wisdom of an old soul. This 5-year-old Chihuahua began life in a crowded backyard breeding situation, one of 17 little dogs trying to make sense of a world that didn’t offer much comfort. When he was finally relinquished and welcomed into rescue, everything changed — though for Mr. Bob, change takes time.   At 22 pounds (with about five to shed), this sturdy little gentleman is working toward a healthier lifestyle with proper diet and gentle exercise. But while his body is solid, his heart is tender and still learning to trust this brand-new chapter.   Mr. Bob is shy, soft-eyed, and deeply observant. He’s the kind of dog who quietly studies his surroundings, trying to understand how he got so lucky to land in a calm, loving foster home. He’s discovering that kind hands, cozy beds, and soft voices are not temporary — they’re his new normal.   He has proven to be gentle and patient with children and small dogs, though he does appreciate having his own peaceful corner to nap undisturbed. After years of living among too many dogs in a chaotic space, personal room to relax is something he treasures. He absolutely loves to cuddle and prefers to sleep close to his human at night. Fully crate trained, he sleeps soundly without a peep.   The leash is still a mystery to him and a bit frightening. He prefers quick potty breaks and then hustling back inside where he feels safe. We suspect he never had much outdoor experience before. With patience and reassurance, he will continue building confidence at his own pace.   Mr. Bob would thrive either as an only dog or with just one calm companion. More than anything, he longs for a steady, devoted person who will be his life coach — someone with patience, understanding, and unconditional love to help him blossom.   He doesn’t need chaos. He doesn’t need adventure. He just needs someone who sees the quiet beauty in a shy little soul learning how to trust.   If you feel called to give Mr. Bob the safe, gentle future he deserves, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.         PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 7, 2026, 12:24 pm

Story
If joy had four paws and a wagging tail, it would look just like Joyful Jayda. This precious little girl is a delightful blend of Chihuahua and Tibetan Spaniel, born on January 23, 2025, and weighing about 10–12 pounds—the perfect size for cuddling, traveling, and being your constant little companion. Jayda’s story began when her mother, a stray in a neighborhood, was taken into foster care by a kind person who didn’t want her having puppies outside. It turns out that the handsome neighborhood Tibetan Spaniel had already played his part in her story, and that’s how sweet Jayda came to be. Jayda was lovingly adopted as a puppy and spent almost a year in a home where she was cherished. Sadly, her owner began experiencing serious health issues that kept her away from home much of the time. Wanting the very best life for Jayda, she made the loving and selfless decision to return her to rescue so she could find a home where she receives the attention and companionship she deserves. And what a wonderful companion she is! Jayda is housebroken and even rings a bell when she needs to go outside—a very smart little lady. She loves people, enjoys other animals, and brings a bright, happy energy wherever she goes. Joyful Jayda truly lives up to her name. She’s affectionate, friendly, and ready to fill someone’s home with love, laughter, and plenty of snuggles.       If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart and a joyful spirit, Jayda may be the perfect match for you. Joyful Jayda is available through Critter Cavalry Rescue.   For more information, please email ccrtennessee@gmail.com.

Story
Bruno Mars may share a name with a famous performer, but this little Chihuahua has his own kind of star quality. At 4 years old and 20 pounds, Bruno is a handsome boy who is currently carrying a few extra pounds from his previous life, but with some fun exercise and a loving home, he’s already on his way to becoming the sleek little heart-stealer he was meant to be.   Bruno Mars spent the early part of his life as a breeder dog in a home that had far too many Chihuahuas and not nearly enough one-on-one attention. While the environment wasn’t the worst situation imaginable, it certainly wasn’t the life a small, affectionate dog like him deserved. With so many dogs around, there simply wasn’t time for play, attention, or the little joys that make a dog’s life special.  Now that those days are behind him, Bruno is discovering how wonderful life can really be. One of his favorite discoveries has been the game of fetch. This boy absolutely lights up when someone throws his favorite toy. He runs after it with pure joy, proudly brings it back, and waits excitedly for the next throw. His toy is his prized possession and he loves carrying it around like a treasure. It’s hard not to smile watching him enjoy something that was likely never part of his life before.   Fetch is not only Bruno’s favorite game, it’s also helping him get healthier and slimmer while bonding with the people who play with him. Long walks, playtime, and lots of affection are exactly what this sweet boy has been waiting for. And affection is something Bruno Mars has plenty of. True to his charming name, he is quite the little lover boy. Bruno adores people and will happily shower his foster mom with kisses until she gently tells him that’s enough for the moment. He’s friendly with everyone he meets and gets along beautifully with other dogs and even cats.   His foster family says he is an incredibly affectionate, happy little guy who just wants to be someone’s devoted companion.   With a bit more exercise and a family of his own, Bruno Mars is going to blossom into a truly stunning Chihuahua who will fill his home with joy, laughter, and plenty of kisses.   If you’re looking for a playful, loving companion who will happily walk beside you and play fetch for as long as you’re willing to throw the toy, Bruno Mars might be your perfect match.   Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested. Bruno is fostered in Nashville, TN. We also adopt to families in the northeastern region and provide transportation on a certified animal transport van.
