Story
Meet Sam, Your Future Best Friend and Premier Snuggle Specialist! 🐾 Age: Ready for Retirement | Breed: Chihuahua | Weight: A mighty 5 lbs Personality: World-class snuggle bug | Special Talents: A charmingly wonky walk My Story Life threw me a bit of a curveball recently. My beloved owner had to move into a nursing home, and suddenly, a little guy like me found himself without a place to call home. It was pretty scary for a minute there, but I'm keeping my chin up! I might be small, but my heart is huge, and I am ready to find my next forever person to love with everything I’ve got. Why I’m Special (Aside from My Good Looks) The Ultimate Lap Warmer: At just 5 pounds, I am the perfect size to curl up right against your chest or tuck under your chin. If you are sitting down, I want to be on you. It’s that simple! A Delightful Little Waddle: I have some wobbly knees that give me a unique, slightly wonky walk. It doesn't stop me from getting where I need to go, it just adds to my absolute charm. High-Fiber Connoisseur: To keep my sensitive little belly feeling its absolute best, I require a high-fiber diet. Stick to my routine, and my tummy stays happy and healthy! My Perfect Home Checklist Because I am so pint-sized and fragile, I need a very specific type of environment to thrive: Adults-Only or Older Kids: To keep me safe from accidental steps or drops, I need a home without children under 12. An Experienced Chihuahua Fan: I’m looking for an experienced dog owner who understands the needs of tiny, senior pups, knows how to handle fragile joints, and can strictly manage my dietary needs. A Quiet, Cozy Space: A calm environment where I can predict my surroundings is where I will truly shine. Could you be my second chance? I have so much love left to give, and all I want is a warm lap to spend the rest of my days in. Ready to make this sweet boy a part of your life? Apply today to meet him! Sammy is a male Chihuahua who was was born approximately4-19-19 and currently weighs 5 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, provided a dental cleaning with extractions, given flea/tick preventative, tested heartworm negative and given heartworm prevention. Story
Banjo is what happens when a tiny dog lives long enough to become a legend. At 15 years old, this golden eared Chihuahua mix has fully stepped into his final form, part ancient woodland king, part retired wizard, part very serious gentleman who has seen some things. He came to us from another rescue in a state south of here but his origins beyond that are unknown, folklore from another time. He is small in stature but enormous in presence the kind of dog who doesn’t enter a room so much as arrive, as if escorted by invisible court attendants and soft background music only he can hear, instantly on a quest. Time has softened some of his senses, his hearing isn’t what it used to be, and his eyesight comes and goes like an old lantern in the wind, but in their place, Banjo has refined entirely different kinds of magic. His sense of touch is heightened now, the feel of a warm blanket, a familiar lap, a gentle hand resting near him. These are the things he understands with absolute clarity. He eats a specialized diet fit for kings. Really, it is just old man food to help him with some old man ailments, but we don't tell him that.... to him its the finest foods and elixir straight from the apothecary. Banjo allows his royal subects to be carry him like the royalty that he is, and he may or may not have an official snack tax to be paid to him when he demands it. But even in his old age he still likes to wander in his own quiet way, taking unhurried patrols of his kingdom, nose to the ground as he surveys his domain with great seriousness. Every so often he pauses to thoughtfully claim a new corner of the world with a quick, purposeful little whiz, an official declaration that this, too, has been accounted for. He has done okay with his potty training inside but its suggested to keep a close eye on him as he adjusts to yet another new environment at his old age. His expression suggests he understands more than he lets on, especially about treats, naps, and the precise moment someone is about to open a cheese wrapper. Overall, he is gentle magic in living form, the warm, steady kind that settles into your lap and makes the world quieter just by being there. Banjo is not looking for adventure anymore, he has already completed his boss fights (undoubtedly always casting fireball with a crit nat 20 to defeat his foes) and a few too many side quests. He is fully vetted with vaccines, heart worm, flea and tick preventative, microchip and neuter. Now he is simply accepting offerings of comfort, sunbeams, and soft places to rest his very important head. If you could be the right fit for Banjo, apply to adopt him at the link below! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdy9NUdRzsagXgNJ7xhCHp5LZnTUYFxN-2jh4HgXKTou9k-tA/viewform

Story
Opal Chihuahua Spayed female 9 years old, 8 lbs. Opal is a senior chihuahua that tips the scales at 8.5 lbs and would do best in a quiet home (no small children) where she is the only pet. She might be compatible with another dog or cat as long as Opal is not obligated to be friends. She is approximately 9 years old, has been described as having an “old soul” and is somewhat set in her ways. Opal is up to date on all her shots, has a microchip and is house trained. She considers her crate to be her safe place. She knows a few basic commands and prefers women, but will open up to men who "speak" chihuahua. Opal does like to play, once she feels safe. She occasionally gets the “spinners” when she is excited. She is a bit sensitive around her head and neck, so she needs a fenced yard (privacy preferred) because putting a collar or harness on her can be quite stressful for all involved. Opal is not on any medications nor does she have any conditions requiring special foods. If you love when a big attitude comes in a little package, Opal is worth a look!! An adoption form is available at  nebraskanokill.org Suggested adoption donation: $200    June 28, 2026, 12:12 pm
