Story
Opal Chihuahua Spayed female 9 years old, 8 lbs. Opal is a senior chihuahua that tips the scales at 8.5 lbs and would do best in a quiet home (no small children) where she is the only pet. She might be compatible with another dog or cat as long as Opal is not obligated to be friends. She is approximately 9 years old, has been described as having an “old soul” and is somewhat set in her ways. Opal is up to date on all her shots, has a microchip and is house trained. She considers her crate to be her safe place. She knows a few basic commands and prefers women, but will open up to men who "speak" chihuahua. Opal does like to play, once she feels safe. She occasionally gets the “spinners” when she is excited. She is a bit sensitive around her head and neck, so she needs a fenced yard (privacy preferred) because putting a collar or harness on her can be quite stressful for all involved. Opal is not on any medications nor does she have any conditions requiring special foods. If you love when a big attitude comes in a little package, Opal is worth a look!! Story
Boone Chihuahua-Pug mix Neutered male 9 years old, 12 pounds Boone is a charming 9-year-old Chihuahua & Pug mix and he is ready to find his forever lap. Weighing in at 12 lbs, Boone is a low-energy companion that has his playful moments, but is happiest when he’s hanging out with his humans or enjoying some quiet time. His anti-seizure medication is affordable and working well. Boone is a smart boy who already knows commands like "Sit" and "Come" (though he likes to operate on his own timeline!). He is house-trained, does well being left alone for a few hours, and is a perfect gentleman with children. While he is friendly with small dogs through a fence, he can be a bit reactive to other dogs while on a leash, so he’d prefer a calm environment where he can feel secure. He is a "car ride enthusiast" and is looking for a co-pilot to join on life's smaller adventures. Interested??  Adoption form available at nebraskanokill.org Suggested adoption donation:  $200.00  June 4, 2026, 11:34 am

Story
Meet Honey: An Independent Queen Looking for a Quiet Sanctuary At 8 ½ years young, Honey is a tiny Chihuahua with a beautiful, introverted soul. She has a past that has made her wary of humans, but she knows exactly what she wants out of her next chapter: a peaceful, safe place to simply be. The Magic of Honey: The Ultimate Peaceful Roommate: Honey isn’t looking for physical affection, cuddles, or pets—and she may never be. Instead, she offers a quiet, gentle presence. Providing a safe haven for a dog who just needs a place to land is a deeply rewarding experience in its own unique way. A Friend to the Flocks: She absolutely thrives around other animals! Honey currently coexists beautifully with both cats and dogs in her foster home. She draws confidence from her furry friends, so a home with a resident pet to help her feel secure and show her that humans can be kind is exactly what she’s hoping for. A Beautiful Spirit: She is quick, independent, and fiercely herself. As her foster family perfectly describes her: trying to catch her is "like trying to scoop up moonlight!" Honey’s Ideal Kingdom: Honey isn’t broken; she’s just writing her own rules. She is looking for a rare "unicorn" adopter who understands that giving love sometimes just means giving space. Securely Fenced Yard: This is a strict requirement, as she cannot be leashed or carried and has zero recall. Calm & Quiet: Preferably an adult-only home (no small children) with a predictable, serene environment for her to feel safe. If you have a quiet home, a gentle heart, and the patience to let a tiny queen exist safely and comfortably on her own terms, she's waiting for you!   The adoption fee is $250 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  We're open from 12-4 PM Tuesday - Saturday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days.  Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day!  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member.  ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.  Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##2355812##

Story
Gummy Bear is squishy cute boy with lots of love.  We are not 100% what he is a mix of, we see Miniature Pinscher, chihuahua, Kelpie, Lancashire heeler in him.  He has a blue tinted coat that is why we think some chihuahua.  Gummy is a sweet boy that loves to jump in your lap and love you.  He takes a little bit to sniff you out and make sure you are find but with a little food smells on your hands he will be your buddy.  He will need a fenced yard (not an electric one) or someone that likes lots of walks because he does have 2 yr old playful energy.  He will let you know when there is stranger danger.  He would like to sleep with you or under your bed.  He is housetrained if you get him out enough.  We have no idea how he is around kids but since he jumps on adults I would say older kids are better since he does not realize he is smothering you.  We have not had him around cats so do not know how that will go either.  He is good with other dogs and wants to play with them.  Gummy Bear is neutered and current on his vaccinations.   To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $000 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.June 4, 2026, 8:48 pm

Story
Koko Pomeranian Spayed female 9 years old, 10 lbs. Koko is a sassy girl who loves to give smooches. She plays with toys and has peacefully lived with other dogs her entire life. She loves going for walks (even in the winter), but a fenced yard would be nice, especially if the fence would block her view of passing bicycles, which tend to trigger Koko's barking. Imagine that... a Pomeranian that barks! Koko is spayed, crate trained and pad trained, but she might do best in a home without lots of carpeting or rugs. She requires grooming every 6-8 weeks and regular brushing keeps her coat from becoming matted. She has had all of her teeth removed and still eats kibble without any problems. Koko sleeps in her kennel, but might prefer a spot under your bed if a thunderstorm rolls through.   Inquiries to: info@nebraskanokill.com Suggested adoption donation: $200.00      March 19, 2026, 12:16 am
