Story
Fawn & Lily are a bonded mother daughter pair, with Fawn at 7 years old and her daughter Lily at 3, and they’ve made it very clear they want to stay together forever. They currently live comfortably with other dogs and cats, though when a cat first enters the room Lily may loudly announce her presence before quickly settling in. Lily can be a little barky and slightly more shy at first, often taking her cues from her confident mom, but within about five minutes, both girls will be curled up in your lap soaking up attention. Both dogs are potty pad trained in the house. Fawn does an excellent job of going outside exclusively, while Lily is still learning and may rely on potty pads more often. In a new home, especially one with carpet, we do expect there may be a few accidents at first until they’re fully settled and trained to the routine. They kennel well when needed and happily share cozy spaces, especially dog beds where they love to snuggle up together. Their affectionate personalities are tough to pass up and they are devoted cuddle bugs who crave human connection. If you stop petting them, expect some gentle finger nibbling as a reminder that the love session isn’t over yet. Fawn and Lily are the kind of dogs who bring double the love into a home, and they’re ready to find a family who will cherish them together. If this duo seems like they'd be a good fit in your home, apply to adopt at the link below! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdy9NUdRzsagXgNJ7xhCHp5LZnTUYFxN-2jh4HgXKTou9k-tA/viewform

Story
Opal Chihuahua Spayed female 9 years old, 8 lbs. Opal is a senior chihuahua that tips the scales at 8.5 lbs and would do best in a quiet home (no small children) where she is the only pet. She might be compatible with another dog or cat as long as Opal is not obligated to be friends. She is approximately 9 years old, has been described as having an “old soul” and is somewhat set in her ways. Opal is up to date on all her shots, has a microchip and is house trained. She considers her crate to be her safe place. She knows a few basic commands and prefers women, but will open up to men who "speak" chihuahua. Opal does like to play, once she feels safe. She occasionally gets the “spinners” when she is excited. She is a bit sensitive around her head and neck, so she needs a fenced yard (privacy preferred) because putting a collar or harness on her can be quite stressful for all involved. Opal is not on any medications nor does she have any conditions requiring special foods. If you love when a big attitude comes in a little package, Opal is worth a look!! An adoption form is available at  nebraskanokill.org Suggested adoption donation: $200    January 27, 2026, 8:54 am

Story
Bella is 9. Piper is 8. They are a bonded pair. They have been together since I got them both at 6 weeks. They are chiweenies and they are huge couch potatoes. Bella had to get most of her teeth extracted and she eats wet food or I soak her dry food to be soft before feeding her. They are both crate trained and house broken. Both are spayed and microchipped. Updated on all shots as well. They are both good with cats as they’ve been around cats for 2 years now. Bella (brown) does not do walks, she just goes to the bathroom and goes straight back to the door/patio. Piper will go on walks but nothing too long. Piper will use a harness, but Bella is good and never needed hers. They go to the groomers every so often. They know to go into their crate as my dad always referred to it as jail. So “go to jail” relates to them going to their crates when needed. Piper is used to sleeping in her crate throughout the night and Bella sleeps in her bed.

Story
Natasha is a 7 year old chiweenie we adopted from the humane society 6 years ago. She has been an amazing addition and she is well loved. We call her grumble chunk as she is both grumbly and chunky (25 lbs). When we adopted Natasha we were told she was food, people, toy, and dog aggressive. But she was also very lovable and took to our other chihuahua very quickly. All these years later, we have found most of those traits to still be true. Food and treats are a big fight started, and other dogs are not safe and fights will be caused. However she loves kids, she is very protective of them. And cats are her best friends and the only animal I have ever seen her play with. Tasha grumbles at everything, I often warn they could be good or bad so proceed with caution, but she has only ever given warning nips. Natasha would do well in a small family, where she can be queen dog over her reign of cat friends. She loves cuddles and lives for snacks.
