Story
Persephone (aka sfanie) is a little darling.  She is 9 years old and 8 lbs.  Her people could no longer take care of her so she came to our rescue.  She recently had a dental so are teeth are looking good.  She has been fine around other dogs, we are not sure about cats.  We do not think she has had much interaction with kids so maybe no small ones that want man handle a dog.   So far she has shown no sign of wanting to play with toys.  She is a little sad and is looking for a home that will give her lots of loving.  To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.December 21, 2025, 1:48 pm

Story
Sasha is a sweet and energetic girl. She is house trained and crate trained, and knows a few obedience commands and a couple of tricks. She is smart and willing to learn. She's friendly and playful with other dogs and fine with cats. She likes everyone that she has met. Sasha loves her walks, and she walks well on a leash, though she sometimes pulls. She'd probably enjoy some running or possibly training in a dog sport such as agility. Her favorite food is Farmers Dog, but she'll eat other foods mixed with it. She likes toys and gathers them and also an occasional sock. She hasn't chewed on anything except her sturdy chew toys from her original home. She does tend to bark when she sees something outside the window.  Sasha is 3 years old and about 11lbs.   Sasha would love a home with a playful dog, and a person or family who likes being active with  their dog.  Sasha's previous owner could no longer take care of her due to her own personal health issues.  She has been well loved her whole life and loves the diva lifestyle.  Her previous owner was a groomer and has kept her coat in excellent condition and would even dye on occasions.  Regular brushing and grooming is a must for this princess.  To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $350 donation is requested at the time of adoption. Story
Meet Ernie. Tiny body, BIG personality!   Born approximately November 3rd 2025, Ernie is a 3 lb Chihuahua mix who is already convinced he’s one of the big dogs. Ernie’s life didn’t begin easily; he and his littermate were found abandoned as babies in a rural apartment, but you’d never know it by his joyful spirit. Don’t let his size fool you… this little guy is full of confidence, curiosity, and charm. Like all puppies, Ernie loves to play hard and then snuggle harder. In his foster home, he can often be found chasing the resident dogs, determined to prove he belongs in the “big boys club.” When playtime is over, he happily curls up for a well earned nap.   Ernie is a smart and spicy little nugget who is catching on quickly. He eats like a champ, sleeps through the night in his crate, and is working on potty training (hey… little dog, little poop ). He’s doing great with the children in his foster home, but due to his tiny size, a home without very young kiddos would be best. This spunky, affectionate boy will make a fun, loving companion for one lucky forever family.   Ernie is up to date on vaccines and vetting, microchipped, on preventatives, and will be neutered at our expense at one of our partner vets when age appropriate. His adoption donation fee is $450. Please apply in the dropdown menu directly on our website at https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org   PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! January 16, 2026, 3:37 am
