Story
Persephone (aka sfanie) is a little darling.  She is 9 years old and 8 lbs.  Her people could no longer take care of her so she came to our rescue.  She recently had a dental so are teeth are looking good.  She has been fine around other dogs, we are not sure about cats.  We do not think she has had much interaction with kids so maybe no small ones that want man handle a dog.   So far she has shown no sign of wanting to play with toys.  She is a little sad and is looking for a home that will give her lots of loving.  To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $200 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs.  We do not ship dogs.   All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.December 21, 2025, 1:48 pm

Story
Meet Ernie. Tiny body, BIG personality! HE WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION UNTIL AFTER 2/8/26 WHEN HE MAKES HIS DEBUT DURING THE PUPPY BOWL!   Born approximately November 3rd 2025, Ernie is a 3 lb Chihuahua mix who is already convinced he’s one of the big dogs. Ernie’s life didn’t begin easily; he and his littermate were found abandoned as babies in a rural apartment, but you’d never know it by his joyful spirit. Don’t let his size fool you… this little guy is full of confidence, curiosity, and charm. Like all puppies, Ernie loves to play hard and then snuggle harder. In his foster home, he can often be found chasing the resident dogs, determined to prove he belongs in the “big boys club.” When playtime is over, he happily curls up for a well earned nap.   Ernie is a smart and spicy little nugget who is catching on quickly. He eats like a champ, sleeps through the night in his crate, and is working on potty training (hey… little dog, little poop ). He’s doing great with the children in his foster home, but due to his tiny size, a home without very young kiddos would be best. This spunky, affectionate boy will make a fun, loving companion for one lucky forever family.   Ernie is up to date on vaccines and vetting, microchipped, on preventatives, and will be neutered at our expense at one of our partner vets when age appropriate. His adoption donation fee is $450. Please apply in the dropdown menu directly on our website at https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org   PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! January 19, 2026, 9:34 pm

Story
Honey is a 81/2 year old female Chihuahua. She is a tiny, nervous Queen with a big personality and even bigger boundaries. She has a past that's left her deeply unsure of humans. She isn't ready for cuddles, pets, or even the occasional hand reach, not yet. She'll need a home that understands love can be quiet, patient, and without physical contact for a long while (maybe forever).Honey Boo Boo would thrivebest in a calm environment with no small children. She currently coexists peacefully with thecats and dogs at her foster home and finds a sense of safety in animal companionship. While she doesn't want to be touched, she enjoys being around her trusted furry friends, they help her feel less alone in the world and she hopes her someday adopter might have a resident furry companion to continue showing her there are some really kind humans out there. She must have a fully fenced yard because she cannot be leashed or carried and has zero recall, catching her would be like trying to scoop up moonlight. We know she isn't your average lap dog,but she doesn't want to be. She just wants to exist peacefully in a home where she's allowed to feel safe and accepted exactly as she is. She isn't broken, she's just not for everyone. But for someone, she might be everything. If you're the rare unicorn of a human who doesn't need affection or to give love, Honey Boo Boo is waiting for you. The adoption fee is $250 + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter. We're open from 12-4 PM Tuesday - Saturday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days. Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day! If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee. It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission. ##2355812##

Story
Lalo is a Chihuahua, born August 2022.  He is leash trained and enjoys being active.  He will need a fenced yard with room to explore.  Lalo is working on potty training with his foster mom.  The cold and snowy days are tough for a little guy like Lalo, but he is making progress!  Lalo is recommended for children 12 and up.  Lalo gets along with other dogs, but prefers to be an only dog.  He gets along with his foster's cat, but will chase at times.  He is full of personality and a great dog.  His favorite thing is sitting on his person's lap.   Lalo's special requests are to be with a family who can provide him with the love, attention and care that he deserves.  Can you be the one for Lalo? **Lalo was recently diagnosed with petit mal seizure disorder and requires an inexpensive drug daily to regulate. The suggested adoption donation for Lalo is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2486442##

Story
Fawn & Lily are a bonded mother daughter pair, with Fawn at 7 years old and her daughter Lily at 3, and they’ve made it very clear they want to stay together forever. They currently live comfortably with other dogs and cats, though when a cat first enters the room Lily may loudly announce her presence before quickly settling in. Lily can be a little barky and slightly more shy at first, often taking her cues from her confident mom, but within about five minutes, both girls will be curled up in your lap soaking up attention. Both dogs are potty pad trained in the house. Fawn does an excellent job of going outside exclusively, while Lily is still learning and may rely on potty pads more often. In a new home, especially one with carpet, we do expect there may be a few accidents at first until they’re fully settled and trained to the routine. They kennel well when needed and happily share cozy spaces, especially dog beds where they love to snuggle up together. Their affectionate personalities are tough to pass up and they are devoted cuddle bugs who crave human connection. If you stop petting them, expect some gentle finger nibbling as a reminder that the love session isn’t over yet. Fawn and Lily are the kind of dogs who bring double the love into a home, and they’re ready to find a family who will cherish them together. If this duo seems like they'd be a good fit in your home, apply to adopt at the link below! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdy9NUdRzsagXgNJ7xhCHp5LZnTUYFxN-2jh4HgXKTou9k-tA/viewform

Story
Sasha is a sweet and energetic girl. She is house trained and crate trained, and knows a few obedience commands and a couple of tricks. She is smart and willing to learn. She's friendly and playful with other dogs and fine with cats. She likes everyone that she has met. Sasha loves her walks, and she walks well on a leash, though she sometimes pulls. She'd probably enjoy some running or possibly training in a dog sport such as agility. Her favorite food is Farmers Dog, but she'll eat other foods mixed with it. She likes toys and gathers them and also an occasional sock. She hasn't chewed on anything except her sturdy chew toys from her original home. She does tend to bark when she sees something outside the window.  Sasha is 3 years old and about 11lbs.   Sasha would love a home with a playful dog, and a person or family who likes being active with  their dog.  Sasha's previous owner could no longer take care of her due to her own personal health issues.  She has been well loved her whole life and loves the diva lifestyle.  Her previous owner was a groomer and has kept her coat in excellent condition and would even dye on occasions.  Regular brushing and grooming is a must for this princess.  To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $350 donation is requested at the time of adoption.
