Story
🐾 PEANUT is an adorable little recent surrender who is just 3 years old and we're getting fully vetted this week. Besides his gorgeous Pom/chi looks, he's a super sweet dog once you give him a few minutes to acclimate to you as a new person. He also tries to make sure other dogs know he's the boss when he first meets them, but he's fine after a little initial posturing. Once he's comfy with you, he loves snuggling and enjoys all the attention! 👉 Adoption fee INCLUDES: all vetting to age (including deworming, flea & tick etc), spay/neuter and microchip (if the dog is under 6 months, alter and chip will occur after they're 6 months, covered in full at our clinic or reimbursed partially at a vet of your choosing). If the dog is older than 6 months and not yet altered, we will schedule ASAP (normally within 30 days) at our clinic . We also provide as an incentive a $60 rebate for completion of positive-based training classes. Adoption also includes lifetime support of the rescue. 💜 Please click PURPLE BUTTON above to apply or go to www.secondhanddogrescue.com/apply ! ✍ APPLICATION PROCESSING: We do most application processing virtually and dog meets will be individually by appointment with ONLY APPROVED APPLICANTS. We are not a shelter and are completely volunteer foster-based, so there is no central place to come see all of the dogs available. 📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: ** Housetraining with rescues is sometimes a work in progress and even if a dog is 100% in a foster's home, it should be expected there will be an adjustment period as a dog adapts to a new environment. This is even more true if the dog has not by chance had their altering appointment at time of adoption. ** Also, we highly recommend some form of 2-week shutdown and decompression for dogs going to a new home for best results. --> Lastly, breed guesses in rescue are just that (GUESSES!!) 99.9% of the time. We do not do DNA testing and our breed guesses are based on appearance and sometimes other traits, but we know the dog breed guessing game is a fool's errand even for those with LOTS of experience. 🗺 ADOPTION AREA: several hour radius of Rochester, NY (Canada within 3 hours IS allowed, except that young puppies need to be old enough to have gotten their rabies vaccination to cross the border - usually around 16 weeks)

Story
🐾 BUDDY is a new surrender whose owner could no longer keep him where moving. He's just a year old and 19 lbs - looks to be some kind of Pomeranian mix with something a bit bigger since he's close to 20 lbs. SUPER sweet, friendly, playful, housetrained, and snuggly! We've got him vetted except neutering which he is on our schedule for and is included in his adoption fee. Gorgeous, sweet dog! Story
🐾 BOLT is 3 years old and we got him fully vetted when he came to us. His foster reports he's a sweet little guy who loves to give kisses and is a huge snuggler. He's maybe a chihuahua Boston type mix? (11 lbs) He loves people and is good with her other dogs and cats- in fact, he does really well with another confident dog in the home as he can be scared of things especially initially. He loves it outside and would do best with a fenced yard as he does well on a leash, but will not POTTY on a leash as of yet. Bolt is also crate-trained with no fuss. He's somewhat housetrained with a *** - he uses a belly band inside and doesn't mind it at all and that has taken care of any lifting of the leg inside, and at his previous home he was pee pad trained, so sometimes esp in winter he will fall back to that and do #2 on a pad by the door. He's a chill little guy who will make you smile - he's just recently discovered the joy of toys, and is also super treat and food motivated. In fact, that's the only time you might hear him bark is a bit when it's feeding time!
