Story
The Sweetest, Kindest Pup Are you looking for a gentle, caring, sweet pup to add to your pack? Bessie might be the dog for you. Bessie and her babies (part of our Bovine Bunch) came to us from Adams County Pet Rescue (ACPR). ACPR had taken in some brand-new mamas with days old puppies and asked for our help with these litters, and our talented fosters were able to take them all. Recently, ACPR reached out to us again; Bessie’s mom had been hit by a car and her owner was unable to care for her very young puppies – could we help? We took in the puppies, and gentle Bessie stepped up to nurse and mother these very young babies. She lavished the same love and attention on them as she had on her own pups. Here are the basics: Bessie is a chihuahua mix with chocolatey brown markings and adorable, soft ears that frame her lovely face. She weighs about 11 pounds; she was born in early April of 2025 and is fully grown. Now the fun stuff: Bessie is a sweet, lovable girl who goes with the flow and loves to be right next to you. She gives little wiggles that are hilarious, and with her ears falling so close to her eyes, she makes the most expressive gestures. Bessie has a silly side, and she delights in zoomies around the yard or in circles around the couch. Her foster home has several large dogs, and Bessie decided she fit in better with the cats for snuggles and shares the couch with them. But her size will not hold her back; she loves the company of the larger dogs and enjoys playing with them. Her small size and quickness make for fun racing games outside. Bessie does very well with children, and she has not displayed any interest in the chickens or rabbits at her foster home. Her friendly nature and gentle spirit make her popular with everyone she meets. Bessie is learning to take time for herself, though she checks in with the puppies regularly and makes sure they are settling well into their foster home. She’s had a lot of motherhood in a short amount of time, and this sweet girl deserves some me time! Bessie is potty trained, sleeps through the night in her crate, and is learning her basic commands and leash manners. She adores settling into a warm blanket at bed time after snuggles with her people, and Bessie contentedly spends time during the day in her crate with a nice chew toy. She’s practically perfect (though on occasion has chewed an unsuspecting shoe left lying about). While she waits for that special someone to come along, Bessie is getting lots of love, attention, and play time with her foster family and exploring who she is now that she has completed two rounds of motherhood in a few months. This sweet girl has earned her romping time and naps! If you want to learn more about Bessie, apply or visit our website. Ready to adopt? Now what? Please take 3-4 minutes and complete our application form at: www.lilaccitypupproject.org. Our adoption team will spring into action! You will have a phone call conversation with a dedicated adoption counselor, and the adoption team will contact your vet(s), if applicable. Once you have been matched with a dog, a meet and greet will be set up and take place at the foster family's home. After the meet and greet, there will be a home inspection and in-home trial prior to adoption finalization. Lilac City Pup Project is entirely volunteer and foster run, with no kennel facility. Only approved adoption applicants will be able to meet our dogs outside of adoption events. Adoption Donations: $350 for Puppies up to 9 months $300 for Adults 9 months or older *includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, and microchip. Fosters provide love and a soft place to crash. At Lilac City Pup Project we strive to better the lives of vulnerable dogs through rescue, foster, and adoption services; educate dog owners and empower them to build successful human/canine relationships; and support the local community by partnering with shelters facing overcrowding and limited resources. LCPP is organized exclusively for public, charitable, and/or educational purposes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. LCPP is a Nonprofit organization formed in Washington State in April 2025, by passionate dog lovers. One hundred percent (100%) of every dollar goes to furthering our tax-exempt purpose. Story
Meet Angus! Born on 6/19/26, Angus is a tiny bundle of joy with white and fawn colored fur and a sweet face. He is a chihuahua mix and will be a small dog when fully grown. Angus and his fellow puppies of the Bovine Bunch came to us from Adams County Pet Rescue (ACPR). On June 23, ACPR received a call about two mama dogs who had recently had puppies. The puppies were very young, some only a day old.  ACPR reached out to us, as we have the resources to care for neonates. Thanks to our amazing litter fosters, we were able to take both mamas and all the puppies. Angus and his fellow Bovine Bunchmates are happily exploring the world and gaining new experiences. We are learning more about their little personalities every day! They will remain with their mamas for another few weeks then be paired off with new fosters in mid-August. We are currently taking applications for Angus, and he will be able to go home with an adopter on or about August 30, after he is neutered. To begin the adoption process and learn more about Angus, apply today! Puppies this young cannot be left alone more than a few hours at a time. Please only apply if you can be home with your puppy or can make arrangements for the puppy’s care. Ready to adopt? Now what? Story
Target is one special little mama who has been through quite the journey! She came to us from a shelter in California while pregnant and went straight into foster care, where she gave birth to three beautiful babies on July 10th. She was an amazing mama and raised her puppies in foster care until they were ready to find families of their own. Now, it’s finally Target’s turn! 🥹💗 Target has also made some wonderful progress in foster! She originally needed some help with housetraining, but by the end of her foster stay, she was having very few accidents and could hold it all through the night! She’s proof that a little patience, consistency, and love can go a long way. 🥰 Now that she’s finished raising her babies, Target is ready to be someone’s spoiled little companion. She may need a little time to adjust to her new home, but we know her forever family will be so lucky to have her! Come meet this sweet mama and give Target the happily-ever-after she deserves! 🐾
