Story
Location: Edmonton, AB // Age: Approx. 7 -10 years old // Sex: Male // Size: Small // Energy Level: Low // Dogs: Yes! A canine companion is preferred // Cats: Yes! Very respectful and unbothered // Kids: Yes, respectful children // House Trained: Yes, with a consistent routine // Crate Trained: Yes, with a little bedtime reassurance // Meet Simon! 🐾❤️ If you're looking for a sweet little senior gentleman who enjoys leisurely strolls, neighbourhood surveillance, and a peaceful life with his furry friends, Simon might just be your guy! At approximately 7-10 years young, Simon is a gentle, curious, easygoing boy with a heart of gold. He's a little shy at first, but give him some patience and a predictable routine, and you'll start to see his adorable personality shine through. ❤️ 🏡 A Professional Homebody: Simon loves the simple things in life! Sleeping in, relaxing in his dog bed, lounging in the recliner, and watching the world go by from his favourite window. He takes his neighbourhood watch duties VERY seriously, so a window at Simon's height would be a dream come true! 🐾 The Sniffari King: Don't let his senior status fool you! Simon LOVES his walks and happily spends his time investigating every interesting smell along the way. He's great on leash, although he occasionally insists on stopping for a particularly important sniff. One or two daily walks, keep this little guy happy! 🐶 A Friend to the Furry Ones: Simon is fairly independent with humans but absolutely loves the company of other animals, especially dogs! He's polite with larger dogs and has even shown off some adorable little play bounces with smaller friends. He's also fantastic with cats, showing no apparent prey drive, even when the resident cat gives him a surprise boop on the bum! 😂 👨‍👩‍👧 People & Kids: Simon has done well around children, calmly observing their excitement and moving out of the way when needed. He could live with older, respectful kids. He can be timid around unfamiliar people, especially on leash, but he's learning to trust and becomes more confident when allowed to approach at his own pace. ❤️ 🌙 A Little Bedtime Ritual: Simon is house trained with a consistent routine and sleeps through the night in his crate! He does have one adorable request: someone needs to lie beside his crate for about five minutes until he settles. He just likes knowing his people are nearby. He also needs a little help getting in and out of his crate. 🍽️ Privacy, Please! One of Simon's funniest quirks? He does NOT like being watched while he eats! He'll actually check to make sure nobody is looking before enjoying his meal. Apparently, a gentleman deserves a little privacy at dinnertime! 😂 ❤️ A Gentle Little Soul: Simon enjoys soft pets, cozy blankets, and relaxing beside his people. He's cooperative with brushing, handles vet visits like a champ, and adjusts well to new environments when his routine stays consistent. Car rides aren't his favourite, but he's much more comfortable travelling in a secure carrier. 🏠 Simon’s Dream Home: Simon would thrive in a quiet, low-key household with patient humans who are home often. Someone working from home, or a family with plenty of time for him would be wonderful. Most importantly, Simon is looking for a friendly, canine companion! He truly enjoys having furry friends around. An affectionate, dog-savvy cat may potentially be considered, although this hasn't been fully tested as a substitute for another dog. ❤️ 🩺 Simon has a dental scheduled for October 30 so he will have a brand new mouth to go to his brand new home! 💕 Why We Love Simon: Simon isn't the loudest or most outgoing dog in the room. He's the quiet little gentleman who finds happiness in a familiar routine, a good walk, a cozy spot to nap, and the comfort of knowing his favourite people and furry friends are close by. Watching his confidence grow has been incredibly special. Beneath that shy exterior is a sweet, gentle soul who deserves to spend his golden years feeling safe, comfortable, and adored. ❤️ Simon isn't asking for the world. Just a little piece of it to call his own. Preferably with a window. Because retirement doesn't mean he's giving up his neighbourhood watch duties! 😂❤️ If you would like to meet Simon, please complete an application: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form

Story
Location: Cochrane, AB // Age: Approx 13 years old // Sex: Neutered male // Energy Level: Low // Dogs: Yes, small calm dogs // Cats: Untested, likely fine // Kids: No // 💛 Meet Torey — 13 Years Young and Ready to Be Someone’s Whole World! 🐾 If you’ve ever wished for a little companion who wants to spend every moment by your side, Torey might just be your guy! This quirky, affectionate senior has so much love to give and is looking for a special person who will welcome him into a calm home, spoil him rotten, and let him enjoy his golden years exactly as he deserves. 🐾 Torey is a true velcro dog once he bonds with you. He loves following his favourite person around the house, snuggling on the couch, and sleeping as close to you as possible. And he has plenty of personality! When he’s feeling relaxed, you might catch him sticking his little tongue out, and if you have treats, be prepared for a happy little dance. Food is definitely one of his love languages! 😂❤️ Torey can be an anxious little guy, and he needs time to feel safe around new people. He may snap if he feels frightened or is handled before he’s ready, so it’s important that his future family respects his boundaries, allows him to settle at his own pace, and understands that trust takes time. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet, loving side really shines. He takes daily medication to help manage his anxiety, and his barking has improved with medication and a consistent routine. We believe he’ll continue to thrive in a quiet, predictable environment where he feels secure and has plenty of companionship. 🐾 Torey’s dream home would be a peaceful, adult-oriented household with someone who is home often and genuinely wants a devoted little shadow. He can live with other dogs, provided they’re a good match for his sensitive nature, or he’d be perfectly happy as your one and only. We’re not recommending a home with young children, as Torey needs a calm environment where his space and boundaries can be respected. He can manage short periods alone once settled, but he’ll be happiest with a person who has lots of time to spend with him. 🐾 Like many senior dogs, Torey has a few health considerations. He has a heart murmur that does not currently require medication but should be monitored as he ages. He is still working on his house-training, so his adopter will need patience, consistency, and realistic expectations. Senior dogs deserve understanding, and Torey is looking for someone who embraces the whole package, quirks and all! 🐾 The wonderful news? Torey has completed his veterinary care, including his neuter and dental, and he’s ready to find his forever home! 🎉 Torey may not be the dog who greets every stranger with a wagging tail, but he has something equally special to offer: the chance to build a deep, meaningful bond with a little dog who wants nothing more than to feel safe and loved. 🐾 His ideal retirement plan includes cozy naps, tasty treats, a favourite human, and absolutely no shortage of cuddles. Could you be the person who makes Torey’s golden years his very best ones yet? 💛🐾 If you're interested in meeting Torey, please complete an adoption application: https://www.ruffstartanimalrescue.com/dog-application-form
