Tucker is a very special boy who has already been through more than he should have, and now he’s hoping for someone who will give him the patience, guidance, love, and forever home he deserves. Tucker is not perfect — but he doesn’t need to be. He just needs someone willing to believe in him. Tucker came to us from a county shelter after being found as a stray. He was scared, confused, and unsure of what was happening. He didn’t understand why his world had suddenly changed. But once he felt safe, we began to see the sweet, affectionate, incredibly smart dog underneath that fear. Today, Tucker is learning that people can be trusted and that life can be filled with love, playtime, and a warm place to call home. About Tucker Tucker is an estimated 18-month-old Pomeranian mix who weighs approximately 16 pounds. He is absolutely adorable, beautiful, energetic, and — in so many ways — still a puppy at heart. His foster dad says: “Tucker is very sweet and affectionate. But he is very much a puppy.” And that is perhaps the most important thing to understand about Tucker. He is smart, eager to learn, and full of energy, but he has not yet learned all the manners that will help him become the wonderful adult dog we know he can be. He loves to play, explore, and be part of everything happening around him. He also loves getting pets and affection and can truly light up a room. His foster family has already been working with him, and Tucker is doing very well with his crate training and housetraining. He is also good with dogs and cats, although he wants to play and still needs to learn how to interact appropriately. Tucker would benefit tremendously from continued training and from an adopter who understands that bringing home a rescue dog takes time, patience, consistency, and compassion. Because Tucker can be mouthy while teething and is still learning his manners, a home without young children is recommended. An experienced or confident dog owner who is willing to continue his training would be an especially wonderful match for him. Tucker Needs Someone Who Will Believe in Him Tucker will need time to decompress when he enters his new home. We recommend following the 3-3-3 rule and giving him at least three weeks to begin feeling safe, comfortable, and truly settled. Please don’t expect Tucker to become your perfect dog overnight. Give him time. Give him structure. Give him patience. Give him love. And most importantly, give him a chance. His foster dad says it beautifully: Tucker may not be perfect right now, but with training and guidance, he has everything it takes to become an amazing adult dog.
